NCGBBA went 1-1 on Day 2 of the VA Live Shootout presented by CBG Live. Take a look at how things looked for them and The Miller School.

[player_tooltip player_id="854913" first="Jakel" last="Powell"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1121048" first="Nigel" last="Okwakol"] were the early initiators for them on offense as they got things going for them. Okwakol started with 4 pts while Powell started the perimeter scoring for them with the first made 3-pointer.

Fresh off the bench, [player_tooltip player_id="1275518" first="Nick" last="Quick"] got NCGBBA the lead with a thunderous dunk on the break. [player_tooltip player_id="1156050" first="Tichyque" last="Musaka"] brought the energy off the bench as well as a presence on the glass and finished around the rim.

Okwakol kept them in the game as he led the way with some key plays on defense and offense to pace things with 6 pts in the first half.

Steward School led things at the half 22-19.

The second half started out much better for NC GBBA as a dunk from Musaka and fastbreak layup from [player_tooltip player_id="1104961" first="Caden" last="Bell"] gave them a 23-22 lead right away. An 8-2 run to kick off the first half made it 27-24 but Liberty signee [player_tooltip player_id="992529" first="Curtis" last="Blair III"] tied things up to make his presence felt.

A fastbreak dunk from Powell would make it 33-29 as NC GBBA continued to battle. Powell showed his ability to lead in the 2nd half as he followed that up with a 4-point play to give them their largest lead at 39-34.

NCGBBA really turned things up after that and led by 12 with 3:35 left in the game. Powell knocked down three 3-pointers and showed he could get others involved as well.

Powell: 12 pts
Okwakol: 10 pts
Musaka: 11 pts

53-38 Final

In the second game of the day against Miller School, NC GBBA struggled a bit to get stops and knock down shots when needed. While Powell went cold shooting from deep, guys like [player_tooltip player_id="1104961" first="Caden" last="Bell"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1159135" first="Maleke" last="Green"] stepped up their play to keep them in it.

Musaka had himself a productive game down low against top VA prospect [player_tooltip player_id="1259617" first="Eli" last="DeLaurier"] with 22 points of his own. DeLaurier finished with 13 points.

It was [player_tooltip player_id="1403920" first="Jordan" last="Horne"] who stole the show down the stretch for Miller School, as he showed he could get to the free-throw line and make things happen with 16 points of his own. In the end, Miller School gave NC GBBA their first loss at the VA Live Shootout, 58-55.

NCGBBA will be back in action at 9:30 against STAB and 11:50 to close out the VA Live Shootout.
