The Modesto Christian Summer Classic was a 3 day event held at four locations in throughout NorCal. Modesto Christian was the home base for the event. Ripon HS, Ripon Christian HS, and Weston Ranch in Stockton were the other venues. On Friday PH NorCal was at Weston Ranch in Stockton, CA. Here are the prospects who stood out on day 1.

[player_tooltip player_id="950918" first="Tyler" last="Parr"] 6’3 2023 Guard of Atwater HS.

A muscular physical guard who used his body to his advantage. He scored over smaller players in the paint using his physicality to effectively score points in the paint. He plays with good balance, has solid handles attacking the basket from the perimeter and in transition. When he gets it going he forces you to defend.

[player_tooltip player_id="1256578" first="Cole" last="Epperson"] 6’7 2024 Forward of Jesuit HS.

There’s a lot to like about this Jesuit team, on Saturday Epperson showed us an improved game sine the last time we saw him. He’s filled his frame, he’s moving with a purpose, and he’s improved his overall skill set to set himself up as a legitimate next level prospect. He made 3’s, handled and passed well, and worked the boards. He’s on the Watch List.

[player_tooltip player_id="1124083" first="Kevin" last="Haupt"] 5’8 2024 PG of Jesuit HS.

Haupt transferred into Jesuit not long ago. Usually there’s an adjustment period. Haupt fits right in with this group. He’s a player that understands how the game is played. He’ll use his point guard skills to help lead this talented group going forward. He has all the necessary tools to run the point guard position.

[player_tooltip player_id="950938" first="Derek" last="Sangster"] 6’7 2023 Guard/Wing of Archbishop Mitty HS.

Sangster has committed to play basketball at Princeton University. On Saturday he showed off all the reason why he’ll be playing at the next level. He’s filled his frame a bit, and is playing with good bounce and confidence to start his final season at Mitty. His wing, and perimeter skills are improved. He can score in the post when called upon.

[player_tooltip player_id="1255641" first="Leon" last="Mills"] 6’2 2023 Guard of Edison HS, Stockton, CA.

Mills is looking like an experienced player with this group. He’s more settled not rushing to make things happen. He has a quality set of skills for the guard position. His quickness is noticeable on both ends whether he’s using quick hands to get steals, or create buckets for himself. He was effective at both guard positions.

[player_tooltip player_id="1380759" first="Elijah" last="Mobley"] 6’1 2023 Guard of Weston Ranch HS

The versatile Mosley showed why he was a top player in the section last year. He uses his athleticism and energy to effect the game on both ends of the court. His guard skills, along with his quickness allow him to score buckets in different ways from various angles on the court. He’s a good conditioned athlete that defends.

[player_tooltip player_id="1253214" first="Mateen" last="Rafiq"] 6’0 2024 Guard of El Camino HS.

Rafiq just knows how to play basketball. He’s a rising guard in NorCal. He consistently goes out and produces at a high level. He has excellent vision and passing skills, a ball mover. He uses a good first step, and excellent crossover dribbles to produce points in the paint. He knocks down 3’s consistently. He puts pressure on defenders in a fast pace game. He has a good flow to his game.
