The Kansas 2025 group was fun to watch and follow in the spring as thee guys got to explore higher usage rates, more playing time in most cases, and new roles to expand their game.
Here are 6 Point Guards to Watch this June with their High School Clubs Across Kansas:
Mikey Williams, 5’10 PG, Highland Park: Had a really solid back half of the spring session finding comfort in the back court against some high quality competition. Williams should have a much expanded role in his sophomore campaign in the back court for a loaded Highland Park roster. A really solid passer with good court vision and excels in the drive and kick game. Williams can spot up on the perimeter and knock down catch and shoot threes and has multiple finishes he can go to off the drive. Has long arms and is an effective defender.
Keaton Wagler, 6’ PG, Shawnee Mission NW: A long, athletic, and smooth playing guard who got a ton of experience for a really good NW team last season. Always seems to play with a jolt of energy on the floor and has the handle and wiggle to make some really eye popping plays as a point guard. Can really stretch out and finish around defenders, has a soft touch on his finishes, and has a nice change of pace game. Wagler is a smart basketball player and locates on the floor once he gets rid of the ball and is a really solid shooter both off the catch and the bounce. A ton of upside with Wagler.
Brady Hurla, 6’ PG, St Marys: Was a pivotal role player off the bench for the state runner up Bears. Hurla made some big shots and free throws down the stretch in clutch moments in the playoff run and backed it with a huge spring on the grassroots circuit. Hurla is primed to have a huge June with a much more expanded role for St Marys where he has the ability and opportunity to slide right into being a premier back court player for them. Is a long point guard, very high IQ, growing in confidence, steps in and knocks down the three ball in bunches, and drives the ball tough and finds teammates for great looks.
Jayden Brown Jayden Brown 5'7" | PG Andover Central | 2025 State KS , 5’8 PG, Andover Central: One of the top three point shooters in the 2025 class and it just so happens he is a tremendous point guard as well. Really quick dribble and is quick down the floor with incredible shiftiness on his dribble moves. Very rarely takes a bad shot and does a great job of collapsing defenses and finding his shooters or bigs for buckets off the pass. Is great in ball screen situations and can come off firing, get down hill, or set up the roll/pop man for a shot.
Aven M’Boule, 5’10 PG, Wichita South: Played well beyond his age last year as a freshman being a poised and calming presence in the back court for South. Has a ton of upside and ability still to be unlocked. Really solid on the attack and burns hard closeouts at will with a big and quick first step. Almost always under control on his drives, touches the paint a ton, and seems to always have a plan of attack. Really soft touch off the glass on his finishes and has a float game as well. Was impactful as a freshman at over 10 points per game and will take a massive leap this June with his high school program.
Josh Kim, 6’2 PG, Andover: Kim got to see some varsity minutes last season for an Andover team that will return a ton of talent and will be looking to do damage. Kim should see an expanded back court role for them and is coming into June off of a great spring playing for Run GMC the UA program out of Kansas City. Kim is a 3 level scoring point guard with the handle, shot approach, and versatility to make plays all over the floor in a wide variety of scenarios. Has an unbelievable motor and plays extremely hard on both ends of the floor. Guards the ball really well and is solid in help defense. Very smart basketball player who is always looking to make the right basketball play.
