Prep Hoops took in the action of a handful of games from the Horry County Summer League yesterday. We were able to attend some games over at Socastee HS yesterday. The Horry County Summer League will take place each Tuesday for the month at a different school around the county.

The Loris HS Lions have some young talent on the roster for Head Coach Adrian Grady. [player_tooltip player_id="1485127" first="Jayleen" last="Bellamy"] really came to play today for the Lions. Bellamy (2025) a left-handed guard was able to score the ball from all 3 levels today with his play. Jayleen was able to initiate contact to the basket, finish on the break, while hitting mid-range jumpers to boot.

[player_tooltip player_id="1485126" first="CJ" last="Hemingway"] (2025) saw good minutes last season as a freshman. Hemingway has good length and size already for his age. CJ plays the game very active and tends to stay in the paint at all times. Hemingway still must be able to work through contact.

Marquavis Johnson (2023) provided some senior leadership for the Lions from the backcourt. Johnson a football player in the fall sees the floor very well from out top. He really looks to get the ball downhill and to the basket.

Who are these Seahawks?

Myrtle Beach HS looks to be a very new team this coming season. The Seahawks will have a new look team this for new Head Coach Eric Lyons. Neither [player_tooltip player_id="1347884" first="Jeremiah" last="Favorite"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1183948" first="John" last="Simmons"] played yesterday. Favorite nursing a injury while Simmons was not in attendance.

The Braves have plenty of talent back

[player_tooltip player_id="1351634" first="Preston" last="Smith"] was bullying defenders to the rack today for the Indians. [player_tooltip player_id="1088706" first="Trae" last="Grant"] is still here for the Braves along with Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach transfer [player_tooltip player_id="987980" first="Quadir" last="Scott"]. Scott saw minutes as 8th grader with the Braves before playing for the Saints the past 2 seasons. Scott was not in attendance today.

Smith a left-handed guard-forward really likes to put his body to use and draw contact while going to the basket. Grant is an explosive guard to the cup at times with his athleticism.

Where will the North Myrtle Beach HS Seahawks finish this year?

The Seahawks didn’t have the services of [player_tooltip player_id="1158878" first="Jamie" last="Brooks"] yesterday a 2nd team all-region performer as a freshman. [player_tooltip player_id="1485125" first="Wells" last="Hill"] (2025) point guard looks to provide some leadership from the point guard position. Hill has a fearless mindset and really does a good job of reading defenses from the backcourt.

[player_tooltip player_id="1485128" first="Connor" last="Henley"] has really grown in the past year and is still a RAW talent. Henley 6’5 likes to play face-up especially from the short-corner. Could he remain growing a bit more down the road?
