While my content so far has been focused in Ohio for the 17U players, I felt it is only fair to highlight some of the top performing non-Ohio guys that impressed me last weekend. With guys featured from Indiana, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, there are plenty of names for regional programs to consider and ultimately choose to target in the 2023 class.

[player_tooltip player_id="1049166" first="Tyler" last="Horton"] 6’7 INB Elite (Warren Central)

Horton is a workhorse and forces opposing bigs to account for him in a variety of ways when he’s on the floor. Horton isn’t the most polished big and seems a little raw at times, but he can get postups and looks in the post. As he learns to finish those shots and ultimately becomes a more consistent scoring threat, he could make waves among D3 programs looking to add a post option.

[player_tooltip player_id="1186419" first="Chaz" last="Cobbs"] Jr 5’9 Western PA Pride (Woodland Hills)

Cobbs is a solid distributing guard that showed great poise in the backcourt. Offensively he has a lot of upside. Breaks down on-ball defender with a quick and swift move or two. Impressed me with his pull-up jumper with a quick release, great mechanics and footwork. Cobbs can be a contributor, however my concern is his size in terms of recruitment at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id="1465492" first="Austin" last="Buckley"] 6’4 WM Lakers Blast (Byron Center)

Buckley arguably was my favorite out of state 17U prospect as he was impressive against an Adidas Gold Castle Athletics team. Buckley can straight light it up on the perimeter with his shooting. Great mechanics and form. Gets squared to the rim on catch-and-shoot options. Buckley doesn’t jump off of the page as an athletic guard, and yet he threw down a transition two-handed dunk in the win. Buckley overall is very skilled and could be a great target for D3 programs.

[player_tooltip player_id="1295304" first="Jackson" last="Price"] 6’2 5 Star (Mishawaka Marian)

Price made life difficult for Dayton Elite in their Sunday matchup. The 6’2 SG has a thicker body for a guard, but doesn’t have less speed or agility comparatively. Price was mostly a contributing piece in the midrange shooting game as he showed confidence and collectiveness to get shots up in a hurry. Just one of several very talented pieces on that 5 Star team.

[player_tooltip player_id="1406050" first="Lamar" last="Williams"] 6’7 Western PA Pride (Woodland Hills)

Williams was not present in the Sunday morning game for Western PA Pride, but arrived for the Sunday afternoon game and did not disappoint. One of the more impressive low post players regardless of class from the event, Williams was most influential as a rim protector and shot blocker. Very lengthy arms and smart defender. Williams seemingly met the ball at the rim and was able to send several shots out of bounds.
