Viewmont vs. Crimson Cliffs
Crimson Cliffs has some dudes that will finally get a chance to run full-time. Really like their youngster Trevon Taylor who has some solid skills. He could be one of those quick stock rising kids in the Class of 2025. Phoenix McWillis Phoenix McWillis 6'2" | CG Crimson Cliffs | 2023 State UT is nice and Houston Johnsen Houston Johnsen 6'7" | SF Crimson Cliffs | 2023 State UT is a solid hybrid big as well. Zach Robison Zach Robison 6'2" | CG Viewmont | 2023 State UT and Zach Noel are tough and they will give Crimson Cliffs everything they can handle. Two teams that can emerge with solid overall play.
Herriman vs. Judge Memorial
Two teams with some young talent and they will have an opportunity to get up and down the floor. Ike Palmer Ike Palmer 6'6" | CG Herriman | 2024 State UT has been great this spring. Ike really lets it fly from deep but at times he uses his body to get in and make some tough buckets near the paint. Malcom Johnson Malcom Johnson 6'6" | SF Herriman | 2024 State UT has a really nice overall game inside and out. Cale Barclay Cale Barclay 6'8" | PF Herriman | 2025 State UT can really stretch the floor with his shooting. Richard Dut has also improved his game as well. Anywan Kuang Anywan Kuang 6'5" | SF Kearns | 2024 State UT has been a promising wing that still has a ton of room to improve on but is good already. Aaydan Saucedo Aaydan Saucedo 6'0" | CG Judge Memorial Catholic | 2024 State UT can score the ball against anyone. This should be a good game.
Dixie vs Alta
This matchup features two of the top Class of 2024 players in the state in Jaxon Johnson Jaxon Johnson 6'8" | SF Alta | 2024 State #106 Nation UT and Kyle Lemke Kyle Lemke 6'9" | C Dixie | 2024 State UT , both have vastly different games as well. Lemke is a product of a good scheme and a fluid offense as he runs the floor and gets a lot of opportunities near the rim on dump downs and a few post ups. Jaxon is more of a stretch big that can spread the floor with elite shooting. One will try and pull you out of the lane and the other will try and keep you near the rim and get you to help off and then he can pounce. Dixie has a lot of guards that can hurt any team in any classification. John Southwick John Southwick 6'3" | SG Utah Prep | 2025 State #234 Nation UT is starting to come on strong. He could really be the difference maker for Dixie as they prep to make a run at a state championship now.
Cedar Valley vs. Maple Mountain
Cedar Valley is one of those schools who’s enrollment is bursting out of the seams. This influx in enrollment can be good for basketball as more talent moves in. One talented youngster on the roster is Jax Allen Jax Allen 6'4" | CG Orem | 2025 State #391 Nation UT . Jax is a must watch player who has a lot of promise. Cole Roberts Cole Roberts 6'1" | CG Cedar Valley | 2023 State UT is a solid player to watch for Cedar Valley. Maple Mountain is in a rebuild year and they will depend on Bennett Averett. One thing for sure is that they all play hard.
Snow Canyon vs. Hillcrest (ID)
This is one of my favorite matchups in the entire showcase as two defending state champs go head to head. Lyman Simmons Lyman Simmons 6'10" | PF RSL Academy | 2023 State UT who is a D1 caliber prospect will face off against another D1 prospect in Isaac Davis. Issac might be a little fast getting up and down the floor and might have Lyman on footwork and off the bounce ability. Lyman might have an inch or two on him and a reach advantage. Lyman is tough when he gets position. This will be an overall good matchup for both players as they look to get better before the July live period. Owen Mackay Owen Mackay 6'5" | CG Snow Canyon | 2024 State UT and Bowen Hammer Bowen Hammer 6'8" | CG Fairmont Prep Academy | 2023 CA-S will fill in that trio of player on Snow Canyon that can score and even carry the load. Hillcrest might have some trouble dealing with their length. Ike Sutton has been playing well in his new role at Hillcrest and a new comer in Titan Larsen is also a solid player making his way into more playing time.
