<p>The Duke City Shootout is a High School basketball tournament that is being played from Friday June 10th to Sunday June 12th. This tournament will be hosted at four locations across the community. Those locations are Atrisco Heritage Academy, St. Pius, Eldorado and Sandia Prep High Schools. This article will cover the top performers from Friday evenings first six games. </p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id="1124238" first="Elijah" last="Brody"] brought his "A" game in West Mesa’s game vs Carlsbad Friday afternoon. He played an all-around game despite the loss to Carlsbad. <strong>Elijah</strong> showcased his scoring by taking it to the rim with ease and his playmaking when driving to the basket. At his size, he brought the entire package to the floor and was West Mesa’s best player in the game vs Carlsbad. </p>

<p>Despite the loss to Carlsbad late Friday afternoon, [player_tooltip player_id="1076703" first="Sonny" last="Ortiz"] showcased his lights out three-point shooting from long range. There was serval times <strong>Sonny</strong> got himself open by moving without the ball and converted several three-point shots in the game. A few of his three-point shots were from catch and shoot opportunities. What makes <strong>Sonny</strong> a dangerous shooter is when he pump fakes, than pulls up for his three-point shots. </p>

<p><strong>Marquise</strong> was the best player for Atrisco Heritage in their blowout win vs Manzano. He set the tone with his energy defensively that created some scoring opportunities for himself on the offensive end. He used his strength several times to score at the rim and had a quick first step when exploding to the basket. <strong>Marquise</strong> scored many of his baskets by grabbing offensive rebounds and scoring second chance points at the basket. </p>

<p><strong>Chris Parra</strong> once again brought the energy to start the game vs Manzano. Atrisco started the game on a 13-0 run to open the game and <strong>Chris</strong> displayed his skill on both sides of the floor. Defensively he led the charge when Atrisco Heritage pressed Manzano when they were inbounding the ball. His defense led to scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates in transition. In the half court, <strong>Chris</strong> scored inside and outside that virtually made him unguardable in this game. He played this game at a nice pace and knew when to push the ball and when to slow it down. </p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id="1176301" first="Latavious" last="Morris"] was one of the key factors in the Atrisco Heritage win vs Manzano. He was one of the team’s leading scorers and was very efficient shooting a high percentage. <strong>Latavious</strong> showed his athleticism scoring many points inside the paint and had a nice "And One" play at the rim. He also played a key role in Atrisco’s press defense against Manzano. </p>

<p>Cleveland’s star [player_tooltip player_id="1158654" first="Daniel" last="Steverson"] was the team’s leading scorer in their win vs Carlsbad Friday evening. He started the game aggressively and set the tone with his scoring which helped open up the game for his teammates. <strong>Daniel</strong> didn’t mind the physical contact and made it to the free throw line several times. He consistently made it inside the paint with ease. </p>

<p>Remy Albrecht played the game at a nice pace and was Cleveland’s best performer in their win vs Carlsbad Friday evening. <strong>Remy</strong> scored six quick points in the beginning of the game, he scored on an "And One" when driving to the rim and made a three point basket to give Cleveland an early lead in the first half. Carlsbad made a run back in the game late in the second half and that’s when <strong>Remy</strong> took over to close out the game. He had some nice fancy moves when driving toward the basket and found his teammates around the rim. </p>
