The 2024 rankings took a bit of a hit last week when five-star guard Elliot Cadeau transferred to Link Academy in Missouri. He was the top-rated player in the class after [player_tooltip player_id="902746" first="Naasir" last="Cunningham"]’s move to Overtime Elite. Cadeau and Cunningham leaving the Garden State creates a new spot at the top, which now belong to [player_tooltip player_id="1153959" first="Dylan" last="Harper"].

The 6’5 lefty has had a strong spring with the NY Rens and had a big performance at the Pango’s All-American Camp. Harper can finish in a variety of ways around the basket and knows how to get to the rim from the perimeter. He can make opponents pay for giving him space on the perimeter and does whatever it takes to help his team win.

[player_tooltip player_id="1050389" first="Tahaad" last="Pettiford"] is the top point guard in the 2024 rankings as he been making plays for the New York Lightning during the EYBL circuit. The 6’0 lefty has a tight handle and a lightning quick first step, which he uses to blow by defenders and finish around the basket. Pettiford is the top shooter in the state with his quick release and deep range. He is a good passer as he knows where to find his teammates in the half court and uses his quick hands on defense to create turnovers.

[player_tooltip player_id="1153967" first="James" last="Moore"] returns to the top five and has the potential to rise up further with a strong summer with the NY Rens. The 6’9 forward has a strong face-up game as he can put the ball on the floor to get to the rim and can knock down jumpers from distance. Moore skies for rebounds on both ends of the floor and uses his combination of length and athleticism to influence shots around the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id="1106059" first="Maurice" last="Vassell"] enters the top 10 for the first time after joining St. Benedict’s before the start of the 2021-22 season. The lanky 6’9 forward uses his length to alter shots around the basket and is active on the glass. Vassell is a solid finisher around the basket and is developing his range on the offensive end.

Point guards [player_tooltip player_id="1050395" first="Deuce" last="Jones"] and [player_tooltip player_id="829428" first="Jayden" last="Williams"] are ones to watch in the Garden State as they are the second and third ranked lead guards, respectively. The former is a lightning quick guard who is a blur in transition and can finish through contact around the basket. Williams is a twitchy guard who can blow by his defender off the bounce, but can also knock down open shots from behind the arc.

The 2024 class is full of intrigue as this summer will be key to seeing how the rankings update will shake out before the start of the 2022-23 school year.
