Later in the week I will focus on the 16U Division but here were some of the top 17U shooters:
Parker Gerrits Parker Gerrits 6'1" | PG Olympia | 2023 State WA Olympia/WA (Roots Academy 2023)
Parker could of easily went in the top standouts, but when you shoot it like him, you land in this article. He was one of the top junior guards at the event. He had 38 points in game one and 19 points with 10 boards in game two. He hit 9 threes in the two games and just has that picture perfect form with proper elevation and always seems to be balanced with every attempt. He also plays from the neck up. He finds open teammates and can throw the dime. He is taking the ball to the basket better then before and will make the off balanced shot in traffic.
Jackson Lusk SG 6’1 2023 North Thurston/WA (Team Anderson Elite 2023)
I can guarantee Lusk will be in Bruce Williams top shooters report, as he was one of the best in attendance along with Parker Gerrits Parker Gerrits 6'1" | PG Olympia | 2023 State WA . He can pull-up off the dribble from the arc and is best off the catch. He competes on defense despite being a little leaner, but plays the game the right way and doesn’t force anything. The high academic guard looks to be a NAIA/D3 target in the Northwest. .
’3 and D’
Emmett Marquardt Emmett Marquardt 6'6" | SF Garfield | 2023 State WA Garfield/WA (ECBA Baskett 2023) (Pictured)
A top notch face-up forward has grown almost two inches since my last viewing. He runs the floor easily, blocks shots, gobbles up rebounds in his area at the highest point, and has a pretty shooting touch from the three point line. His extra size allows him to fight better inside and has a good base to hold his ground in the paint.
Thad Tenkley F 6’5 2023 North Thurston/WA (Team Anderson Elite 2023)
A true inside out threat for Team Anderson. He has a nice touch from deep and gets off the floor in a blink of an eye. He can score on hook shots, face-ups, turn around jumpers and hits the three with some consistency. He also will spring up to rebound and block shots out of his area. He is a little undersized but makes up for it with his length, motor and bounce
DaeKwon Watson DaeKwon Watson 5'10" | CG Auburn | 2022 State WA Aubrun/WA (Seattle Stars 17)
One of the best glue guys at the entire event. He literally defends all five positions and comes with a huge motor. He did commit to NAIA Montana State University-Northern and will be the classic 3 and D type when he gets there. He makes shots, competes at a high level on defense and gets out in transition.
Grey Garrison Grey Garrison 6'5" | PF Sehome | 2023 State WA Sehome/WA (ECBA Baskett 2023)
A 3 and D with good size and some real run and jump ability. He gets to the basket quickly with only a few strides and seems to explode off the ground to catch lobs. He can catch and shoot and has energy on both sides of the court.
Calvin Holden G 6’1 2023 R.A. Long/WA (ECBA Baskett 2023)
A long and very lean 3 and D type of guard. He has range on his shot from beyond the arc with good ball rotation. He covers a lot of ground with his lateral quickness and length. He anticipates passes smartly and brings a big motor. He will make plays for others and plays within himself.
