Bothun is coming off of a 26 point, 9 rebound per game average from this past winter and is now playing well for the Fury (19-5 on the season).
“The spring went very well as a team,” Bothun said with excitement. “We only got better and better as we continue to play together. Definitely is a very fun group to play with. For myself it went well. Just trying to continually learn and get better and hopefully able to have a really good summer.”
Bothun’s summer schedule includes playing with the Fury in July, there is the MBCA camp in June, high school events with his St. Francis team, and his own individual work.
“This summer is going to be really good for me in a lot of ways. Overall though I want to get stronger and be able to move quicker laterally.”
Colleges have been talking to Matthew with interest from both the division one and the division two level and we could see him landing at either. What type of prospect is Matt and who is talking to him?
“I’m a player that will figure it out when I or the team is presented with a problem, I go towards it instead of running from it.
“Right now I’ve heard from multiple Summit league schools, some Ivy League schools as well. Plus a few more. Many D2’s also D3. I’ll be doing a few camps at colleges this June for sure.”
And back to St. Francis, Bothun scored a season high 37 points three times including the 37 he had at North Branch, Cambridge, and Sartell. Next year the goal is improving the team record.
“Personally my winter Junior season was good when you look at just me. Next one of my biggest goals will definitely be elevating the people around me in order to win games and go far in the post season”
