Here’s some of my top individual standouts from Friday night at Community First Champion Center. Will be at The Barn at Lake Park Saturday and Sunday.

F [player_tooltip player_id="1161947" first="Joshua" last="Ofori"], MN Heat 2023: There’s a lot I liked from him against National Basketball Academy. He displayed some excellent size and athleticism down low as he finished through contact and earned opportunities from the line. Also put up a floater driving baseline to score eight quick points. His defense came alive in the second half as he forced some tough shots for opponents. He came through with eight more points at the end to seal a 62-61 victory. Saw him score through pick-and-roll, posting up, and, floaters. Finished with 16 pts.

G [player_tooltip player_id="1226395" first="Baiden" last="Bean"], Wear Out The Net 2023: Bean impressed with his slashing and ball handling abilities throughout last night’s contest against Illinois T-Wolves. He was a very tough player to guard as he’s super quick and can explode to the lane. He finished with 10 first half-points in the paint. I saw him make some great passes in the 2nd half too. His defensive efforts late secured an overtime win in a thrilling game.

F [player_tooltip player_id="1024438" first="Alex" last="Sherwood"], Wisconsin Crusaders 2023: Sherwood impressed me the most out if everyone playing in this high-level game. He got off to an early start, knocking down a couple threes, and finished well down low with a nice post-hook score. He also played great defense in the first half with a couple blocks and steals. His second half was equally as impressive. He knocked down another three and snagged some tough boards. Sherwood has an excellent physique for a 6’7” forward.

G [player_tooltip player_id="1295504" first="Kenyon" last="Davis"], National Basketball Academy 2023: Davis is a crafty point guard who found buckets from all three levels Friday night. It’d be very difficult to keep him off this list despite the loss. Hit two difficult layups early in the game and knocked down a contested triple. Also made a couple nice plays off the pick-and-roll. What I liked most was his effort in the 2nd half as he left it all out there until the final whistle. Converted an and-one bucket and a pull-up three in the final minutes to cut the deficit to 1.

F Kyle Olebaygi, Illinois T-Wolves 2023: This is another prospect who put on a clinic in a losing effort. He opened the game off with an impressive dunk, but didn’t stop there. Made some more baskets with nice post-moves in the first half. In the second half, he made some tough contact finishes and forced tough shots on defense. He was maybe a few centimeters away from a buzzer-beater in regulation, but the ball rolled out of the basket. Olebaygi finished with 17 points in an overtime thriller.

F [player_tooltip player_id="1190373" first="Keaton" last="Frisch"], Wisconsin Playground 2024: Frisch excelled for Wisconsin Playground in their win over Wisconsin Crusaders 16U. He started hot early with buckets from all three levels. He played very calmly out there and let the game come to him. I really liked his effort scoring inside as he got lots of baskets through contact and impressive layups. He had a clean effort on defense too, as he failed to concede a foul throughout the game. Frisch finished with 23 points.
