Lebron Bennie-Powell Lebron Bennie-Powell 6'2" | SG Lakota East | 2023 State OH 6’2 R4L Elite (Lakota East)
I was a fan of Bennie-Powell and his performance against OBC to start the weekend Saturday. Bennie-Powell has great size at 6’2 and knows how to use that frame against smaller guards. Good arsenal of on-ball moves to get past defenders. Finished around the rim and a tight handle. Bennie-Powell could be seeing the PG position at Lakota East going his way in June with his continued performances like this past weekend.
Justin Wypasek Justin Wypasek 5'10" | PG Strongsville | 2023 State OH 5’9 OBC (Strongsville)
Wypasek is a name I’ve followed for 3 years with this OBC group. Excelled in a pick-and-roll situation using the screen and getting enough penetration to either get a shot off or hit his roll man. Able to get shots off on the perimeter and be a secondary option. I like Wypasek as one of the better PGs in NE Ohio and could see him doing some special things with Strongsville.
Jordan Edwards Jordan Edwards 6'3" | PG Olentangy Orange | 2023 State OH 6’3 Mid Ohio Pumas -Price (Olentangy Orange)
Edwards continues to impress me whenever I have watched him this year with the Pumas. He has shown consistency getting by the initial defenders with his speed and body in both tournaments I’ve watched. This past weekend, this led to his group going 4-0 on the weekend. Edwards also impressed as a defensive specialist guarding a very good scoring guard in Carson Miles Carson Miles 6'0" | PG Georgetown | 2023 State OH from Ohio Primetime. Edwards continues to show he is deserving of being a potential scholarship guard.
Carson Miles Carson Miles 6'0" | PG Georgetown | 2023 State OH 5’11 Ohio Primetime (Georgetown)
Miles was struggling to get shots to fall all weekend, but did enough for me to feel he was one of the better PG’s on display. On a weekend where he couldn’t score at will, Miles was more willing to make the extra pass in a game against Emerge Elite and even created some opportunities putting the ball on the floor. Mainly took the shots for Primetime and is capable of being a volume shooter with Georgetown this Winter.
Tae Sanders 6’1 Athlete Headquarters (Toledo St. Francis)
Sanders was more of a slashing guard this weekend getting plenty of layups at the rim in their game against Western PA Pride. Quick footed and quick instincts and reads from the perimeter. Sanders can create his own shot opportunities and sometimes had no choice but to do so for his squad as they struggled to get additional offensive opportunities. Sanders could be a under the radar guy for St. Francis this upcoming season.
Brady Woodall 6’0 Ohio Stars (Dayton Christian)
Woodall had a great showing Sunday for the Ohio Stars. The Dayton Christian product really impressed me with his unselfishness and passing abilities throughout their two games. Looked off passes and knew where his guys would be against zone defense. Didn’t make any questionable decisions in either games I watched. We know Woodall can score the ball as he does so during the high school season. AAU however let’s us see Woodall’s true talent which is his playmaking.
Daryl Cooper 6’2 Team Takeoff (Miamisburg)
Cooper has shown continued growth in his game since seeing him last school ball season. Cooper has great athletic ability and might have been the best slashing PG I watched during the weekend. Some of his shot decisions weren’t great, but he still was able to get to the rim with limited dribbles due to his longer legs and acceleration. Cooper is looking to have a breakout year with Miamisburg and could see some D3 schools showing interest come December.
