It’s that time of the year again when some really good programs make their way to Utah to play against some of our local teams that have been able to hold their own in the past against some powerhouse programs and players. In the Varsity Division alone there will be over 80+ teams playing across the South Salt Lake and Utah County venues. Out of those 80+ teams there are over 20 that are from out of state and one that is out of the country.

Local Heavy Hitters

American Fork : AF always seems to reload and when you think they might have an off year they seem to always find a way. Really looking forward to watching players like [player_tooltip player_id="934024" first="Aaron" last="Dunne"], [player_tooltip player_id="1057050" first="Tiger" last="Cuff"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1046138" first="Kean" last="Webb"] play together and find chemistry. This team will have a lot of size and a lot fo players will have different roles but they should be a team to watch.

Corner Canyon: Corner Canyon brings back a lot of veteran players that have had a lot of minutes on the floor together. [player_tooltip player_id="1056969" first="Brody" last="Kozlowski"] has been having a stellar Spring. He will be one of the best local prospects to watch especially in the class of 2024. [player_tooltip player_id="934040" first="Max" last="Toombs"] is as solid as they come and [player_tooltip player_id="1116143" first="Jaxon" last="Roberts"] is getting better. This team should attract a lot of attention.

Cyprus: One of the most dangerous teams in the state as they have one of the toughest backcourts in the state with [player_tooltip player_id="934030" first="Quentin" last="Meza"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1057025" first="Diego" last="Mulford"]. They will be breaking in a lot of new pieces but Justus Foobs-Jackson is a game changer when he is healthy. They are well coached and they can score the ball with the best of them.

Eager to Watch

Alta: Alta lost a few big pieces from last years squad that had some talented players with a lot of experience. The main attraction will be [player_tooltip player_id="1298532" first="Jaxon" last="Johnson"] who had D1 game written all over him. He passes the eye-ball test and that stat sheet proves it as well. They have some young guards taking over and a few other bigs getting in the rotation.

Bingham: talk about a team that took a hit with graduation. Almost every player that got significant minutes is no longer on the team. The two main players that remain are [player_tooltip player_id="1057035" first="Ace" last="Reiser"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1116156" first="Brayden" last="Whitehead"]. These two will pace the team but Bingham always seems to have players that emerge and make some noise as everyone on the roster plays hard. [player_tooltip player_id="1206952" first="KJ" last="Jenson"] could easily be the next man up but keep an eye on their young players that might get some run.

Hillcrest (ID): Not a local team but this team is the defending Champions over in Idaho and they have a few players that will pace them. Newly transferred PG [player_tooltip player_id="1378465" first="Ike" last="Sutton"] will be a welcomed addition as he can play 94-feet defense. Ike also provides spacing that Isaac Davis will need as he works his magic down in the paint and in the mid-range. D1 prospect with some nice offers including one from Utah State.
