Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy beat Wichita Falls Hirschi in the 4A Championship game with a final score of 76-50. Oak Cliff also knocked out Silsbee in the Semi Finals with a score of 70-62. Hirschi knocked off Boerne in the Semi-Finals in an overtime thriller 63-57.
Jimmell McFalls 2025 6’1 Wichita Falls Hirschi High School
Jamal is an efficient combo guard who thrives using his movement off the ball. He is truly the point guard of the future at Hirschi as he displayed real court vision and a calmness with the basketball. He was great at reading the defense and punishing them as they collapse on him. It is clear he has put time in the film room almost as much as he has on the court. He is always willing to make the extra pass and hunt for the best shot possible. He was great at playing off the ball and letting his senior point guard run the show. He was good at using his movement to put pressure on the defense. His constant motion and ability to knock down shots on the perimeter allowed his lead point guard to get down hill and get to the rim.
On defense he was great at using his length to harass his opponents and forcing them into tough looks. He harassed some high level wings into some tough fade aways by his ability to cut off their angles to the rim and forcing them to pick up their dribble. He is aware and wants to turn defense into offense every chance he can get. He was great at stealing passes in the passing lanes and reading the opponents eyes when they attempted to pick off Hirschi in the full court. I was very impressed by his alertness and heads up play on both ends of the floor. He has a really nice feel for the game and I am interested to see how he develops.
Peyton Gusters 2023 6’5 Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy
Peyton is a long athlete who has an ability to truly do it all on both ends of the floor. His length allows him to defend all positions on the floor and his foot speed allows him to harass high level guards in the full court. His ability to defend the best players on the court and seemingly tale them away really allowed his defense to take advantage of relaxing a bit more on the defensive end. It allowed his center to stay back in the paint and everyone else just deny the ball when he was on the court. He is a strong trapper of the basketball who uses his ability to seemingly swallow up his opponents by his harassing nature on the ball. On the offensive end of the floor he is a very active player off the ball, he can run off screens, create offense at the high post or flash to the rim. I was very impressed with his willingness to get on the offensive glass, every time a shot goes up he is sprinting and leaping towards the rim at the highest level. I would like to see continued development with his ability to create his own looks with a live dribble, but he has all the tools and a great feel for the game to easily develop this in his game.
Jayron Williams 2023 6’3 Silsbee High School
Jayron is the biggest player that Silsbeee has and he plays the small bal center role to the highest level. He has great length and size with an ability to easily seal off defenders and finish at the rim. He played very well and made some high level forwards very uncomfortable by his ability to take them out of the game. His hustle might be the best part of his game, every time there is a loose ball on the floor Williams is always the first on there. He is an aggressive defender who loves taking away entry passes and denying his opponents any space on the block. He is the anchor of Silsbee’s defense in the paint and does a great job at it.
He is great at playing off of his two lead guards and always seems to be in the right spot to bail them out when they attack the rim. He is an efficient big at the dunkers spot but where he thrives is in the pick and roll. He knows when to slip and force a switch, or really put his shoulder into someone and make them feel his presence and give his lead guards enough space to pull up. I was very impressed with his overall feel for the game, and he will be one of this team’s focal point as they continue to develop. This Silsbee team only had one senior on their roster, expect them to be back in this spot in the near future!
Jemaree Ingram 2022 6’0 Wichita Falls Hirschi
Jemaree is an athletic combo guard with an ability to punish his defenders underneath the basket or shooting over them on the perimeter. He has a reliable stroke from outside and is a knock down shooter when given time to set his feet. He has a quick release which allows him to punish his opponents when his team fins him on the backside. He has really long arms which allow him to get low to the floor when he is beating his defender off the dribble, and helps him turn corners better. He is great at getting into the teeth of the defense with a live dribble and finishes with consistency at the rim. I would like to see him work on his ability to hit pull up jumpers in the midrange, and operate more out of the high post and corners rather than mainly the wings.
Jerrick Harper 2023 5’11 Silsbee High School
Jerrick is a confident guard who showed an ability to innitiate offense and allow his teammates to play off of him. He has a really great feel with his ability to pass the ball, all of his passes seem to be in the right spot for his teammates to easily score at the rim or get a jumper off. His passes always seem to be right in his teammates shooting pocket. He has great body control in the paint, he showed an ability to step through with his foot on the ground or evade opponents in the air. He is always ready to either slash or spot up and punish the defense from the perimeter. He is great at going coast to coast and loves living in the full court. He knows how to stay in his lanes to create open driving opportunities for his teammates or flash to the rim for an easy look. I would like to see him work on his ability to rebound the ball and be more willing to put a body on someone. His team was massively undersized compared to Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy and his aggressiveness on the glass could have made a difference in the game. This Silsbee team only had one senior on their roster, expect them to be back in this spot in the near future!
