Dallas Madison beat San Antonio Cole in the 3A Championship game with a final score of 53-51. Dallas Madison knocked off Wichita Falls City View 69-62 in the Semi-Finals. San Antonio Cole beat Hitchcock in the Semi-Finals with a final score of 53-49.
Lloyd Jones III 2025 6’4 Hitchcock High School
Lloyd is an athletic defender who is a reliable rim defender and a consistent finisher at the rim. He offered a consistent help defender in the paint who rejected shots and forced his opponents to think twice or pass out off shots at the rim. He showed off his quick feet and defended guards on the perimeter. He does not bite on pump fakes, and can reject jumpers on the perimeter as well. His length really made his opponents uncomfortable. He was great at using his length to coral rebounds and get the ball at a high point.
His ability to finish in the lane forced teams to bring a second defender. He always seemed to be in the right spot at the right time to finish easy shots or clean up looks at the rim. He absorbs contact at the rim and showed an ability to finish through it. I was impressed with his hands, he showed an ability to seemingly catch any pass. He got easy looks in transition by simply staying in his lane and waiting for the defense to make a mistake. I would like to see him work on his ability to create with a live dribble and improving his handle more as a whole.
William Jordan II 2024 6’6 Wichita Falls City View
William is an athletic wing who can defend any position on the floor with his length and quick feet. He is long and showed a strong ability to create offense as a screener. He is aware at when to slip the screen or even pop and create out of the high post. He has all the tools and on court awareness to initiate offense and displayed a strong handle in the full court. He is an aware passer with two feet in the paint, he easily picked defenses apart by recognizing when and where the help defense is coming from. He is a strong player out of the triple threat, and can operate out of it at all three levels, or with his back to the basket. He is good at turning the corner on his defender and sealing him off from having a chance to block him. Jordan has all of the tools to develop into a truly dynamic offensive weapon at the next level and I am intrigued to watch his development. I would like to see him work to dominate more in transition and improve his overall speed with the basketball to really flip the court and initiate offense after defending the rim.
Dre Ray 2022 5’11 San Antonio Cole High School
Dre is an athletic freak has an ability to throw down on anyone. He has an explosive leaping ability with all of the tools to finish with ease at the rim by simply elevating over his defender. His ability to meet anyone at the rim allows him to contest forwards and wings at the rim. His an aggressive player when he has his head down and is punishing smaller and weaker defenders in the paint. He seemed to give 110% of his ability in both of the games and almost willed San Antonio Cole to a State Championship with his willingness to hustle on both ends of the floor. Any time a defender was beat off the dribble he was right there skying in on the weak side to meet them at the rim. He had a multitude of blocks by skying in on the weak side, even for his stature he was listed as a forward for a reason! He is a straight hustle player and any coach at the next level would be lucky to have the worker on the court that Ray is. I would like to see him become a more consistent finisher at the rim with his off hand.
James Livingston 2024 5’11 San Antonio Cole High School
James is a high level shooter who is quick to set his feet and shoot the basketball. He seems to always stay ready to catch and shoot and catch a defense slipping on the back side. He can effortlessly can create a look for himself off the dribble. His ability to create space with his handle allows him to score at all three levels. He had multiple instances where he danced around a defender to create himself a look. He even displayed an ability to hit tough fade aways at the mid post and with his back to the basket. I would like to see him become a more aggressive player with the basketball, and be more willing to put his head down and get into the paint. Livingston plays well off of their lead senior guard, but I am intrigued to watch him over the next two years as he becomes the star of the show, but should bode well for his ability to play off of Pierre Harris (2024).
Latrelle Wright 6’2 2022 Dallas Madison High School
Latrelle is an aggressive wing who fights hard on the glass to create second chance opportunities for his team. He is great at clearing defensive rebounds and then pushing the pace in transition. He is a dynamic playmaker in the full court which allows him to be a valuable coast to coast weapon. His relentless play style is not just evident on the glass however, he is a great rim protector and help defender in the paint. His defensive prowess is not just in the paint, he is a high level defender on the perimeter as well. His ability to use his length to harass ball handlers and quickly move his feet to keep his opponent in front of him is a valuable asset at the next level.
