Seven of the top performers I watched on Saturday at Madness In The Midwest!

[player_tooltip player_id="1043750" first="Jamariea" last="Dalton"] (6’3 2023 SG, E2E Elite)- One of the top prospects in attendance, I was impressed with the strides Jay Dalton has made as an outside shooter. He was firing off shots with confidence, some well beyond the arc, and making them at a consistent rate in the games I saw. Previously he was known mostly as an explosive athlete who could glide to the hoop, but his outside shot now forces defenders to guard him tight on the perimeter. Added in a handful of blocks off the glass, showing off just how impressive of an athlete he is.

[player_tooltip player_id="1200545" first="Tristan" last="McRoberts"] (6’6 2022 G/W, Playmakers South)- An intriguing unsigned senior prospect, Tristan showed off a versatile game on Saturday morning. At 6’6 he has plenty of length which allows him to post up smaller wings, and he showed a nice turnaround jumper out of the post, using his high release point to get his shot off. He also ran the point a lot for his team, showing off a good handle at his size, with the ability to set up his teammates with accurate passes. Knocked down a handful of outside shots as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="1285254" first="Micah" last="Bays"] (6’1 2024 PG, Hopson Elite)- [player_tooltip player_id="1285254" first="Micah" last="Bays"] has some of the best handles I’ve seen this spring. He’s so creative with the ball, mixing in a variety of combos to beat his defender off the dribble and get into the lane. Showed the vision to hit an open teammate, but could also hang in the air to finish in a variety of ways. Has range and an accurate shot from beyond the arc, and is a quick decision maker in transition who knows when to pass and when to keep the ball himself. Was dangerous pressing full court using his length and quickness to cause disruptions.

[player_tooltip player_id="1200577" first="Tyler" last="Orr"] (5’11 2023 PG, Playmakers Bartig)- The Rice Lake point guard is so quick with the ball in his hands. Defenders just couldn’t stay in front of him, allowing him to two feet in the paint at will. Really liked how he played off of two feet, allowing him to get his balance before floating the ball up over size to score in the paint. Good passer in the open floor, quick release from beyond the arc, and the ability to handle the ball under pressure.

Jon Weah (6’ 2023 PG, E2E Elite)- Really like how scrappy Jon Weah plays. He’s not afraid of a challenge defensively, and he’s going to sit deep in a stance and guard the length of the floor. He has the strength to take some contact low, and the quickness to move his feet on the perimeter to stick to his man like glue. Offensively he excelled at getting into the paint and slipping the ball into tight windows to set up his teammates, on one occasion leading to a dunk. Just before the end of the first half on Saturday morning, Jon made a highlight play by stealing the ball and dribbling the length of the floor for a dunk right before the buzzer.

[player_tooltip player_id="1456954" first="Riley" last="Mueller"] (5’11 2025 G, All Wisconsin AAU)- Riley can flat out shoot the ball. He has no shortage of confidence beyond the arc, and the ability to shoot the ball off the catch or dribble. He started off the game with a tough step-back jumper, and didn’t slow down as he put up some big scoring numbers leading his team to a win. Really liked his hustle to sprint up the floor and pick up some transition lay-ups as well. Skilled 2025 guard could develop into a nice prospect for Hortonville.

Charlie Geske (6’3 2024 W, Milwaukee Trail Blazers)- Yet another prospect to keep an eye on out of Brookfield Central is Charlie Geske. The 6’3 wing impressed with his composure on the floor, making smart decisions with the ball all game long. He has a smooth stroke from beyond the arc to hit threes at a high percentage, while also being able to put the ball on the floor and use his length to extend and finish at the rim. Defensively he did a nice job of recognizing opportunities to trap, and his length made things difficult for the smaller guards on the other team.
