Live Period GameChangers – Indiana
In this article:
A new, recurring segment after each Prep Hoops Circuit event will be our GameChangers series. Bringing you the best scorekeeping, live video streaming, and team management services of any mobile app on the market, GameChanger is a product every grassroots team in the country can use to better serve their players and their families.
So, what makes a Prep Hoops “GameChanger?” That is up to the eyes of the beholder. It may be an additional top performer still leftover from our prior event coverage. A player who made a key play that swung the game or maybe knocked in a game-winning shot could be highlighted here. Or, it simply could be a prospect that brought all of the intangibles to the table that led his team to victory. Let’s dive on in and highlight some of the GameChangers from the first live recruiting period of the spring in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Gavin Betten Gavin Betten 6'7" | PF Manchester | 2025 State IN (Manchester H.S. 2025/Indy Heat EYBL 2025): Betten was impressive up in Grand Rapids over the weekend. The 6’5″ skilled forward has a smooth left-handed stroke and a well-rounded offensive game. Definitely a prospect to keep an eye on at EYBL events this spring and summer.
Markus Burton Markus Burton 5'11" | PG Penn | 2023 State #190 Nation IN (Penn H.S. 2023/Indy Heat Red 2023): Playing with Indy Heat Red, this 5’10” guard is the star of the show. Burton is a dynamic playmaker, possesses a quick first step, and is capable of scoring from anywhere on the floor. Should continue to pile up Division I offers throughout the AAU season.
Joey Garwood Joey Garwood 6'1" | SG Penn | 2023 State IN (Penn H.S. 2023/5Star 2023): Garwood was making plays all weekend long at The Stage in Indianapolis. He can create his own shot off of the dribble and is a high percentage maker from beyond the arc and in the mid-range. Talented scorer.
Joey Hart Joey Hart 6'5" | SG Linton-Stockton | 2023 State #214 Nation IN (Linton-Stockton H.S. 2023/Grand Park Premier 2023): Hart’s strong play, especially in a win on Sunday afternoon, earned him another Division I offer from Purdue Fort Wayne. The 6’5″ wing poured in 17 second half points scoring it from all three levels on the UAA Circuit.
Cam Reich Cam Reich 6'1" | SG Speedway | 2024 State IN (Brownsburg H.S. 2024/EG10 2024): It was a second straight strong weekend for the EG10 2024 guard. Reich is a physical, skilled 6’2″ scorer that can fill it up from beyond the arc and is tough to handle off of the dribble. Playing at a high level on the Prep Hoops Circuit.
Joey Schmitz Joey Schmitz 6'2" | PG Center Grove | 2024 State IN (Center Grove H.S. 2024/Indiana Elite Team Indiana 2024): Schmitz led Indiana Elite Team Indiana to a 3-1 record in Session I of the Adidas Boys Gold Gauntlet while scoring 17.5 points per game. He is a pure shooter with all-around scoring ability. Should have a breakout spring/summer on the Adidas Gauntlet.
Patrick Schott Patrick Schott 6'5" | PF Perry Meridian | 2023 State IN (Perry Meridian H.S. 2023/Indiana Elite Swish 2023): One of the pleasant surprises from The Stage, Schott dominated around the basket for Indiana Elite Swish. The physical, 6’5″ forward put up some big scoring and rebounding performances and will be one to follow through the rest of the Prep Hoops Circuit.
Michael Wellman Michael Wellman 6'6" | SF Portage | 2025 State IN (Portage H.S. 2025/94 Feet Elite 2025): In a very talented Class of 2025, Wellman is one of top prospects. A 6’3″ wing with good athleticism, Wellman shot it well and had a great performance over the weekend at NY2LA’s Spring Extravaganza.
