This is Part 2 in a 3 part series of stand out performances.
Zavier Banks Zavier Banks 6'6" | SF University Of Detroit Jesuit | 2023 State MI (2023, SF, PEAK Vision Elite, UD Jesuit)
Banks would make a great candidate for player of the week. He was flat out dominating on offense at the Dru Joyce Classic. Banks averaged over 26 points per game and 12 rebounds per game.
Austin Buckley (2023, SG, West Michigan Lakers 17u, Byron Center)
Buckley was a solid and consistent go to scorer for the West Michigan Lakers. His weekend at the Ice Cold Classic was highlighted by a 17 point game and a 24 point game.
Aiden Hanks Aiden Hanks 6'3" | SF Orchard Lake St. Mary's | 2025 State MI (2025, SF, Michigan Playmakers 15u, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s)
Hanks is another star ready to step in at OLSM. He looked silky smooth on offense this weekend, posting 2 20 plus point games. He’s going to be very tough top stop when he attacks off the wing come high school season.
John Kaul John Kaul 6'3" | PG Clarkston | 2025 State MI (2025, PG, North Oakland Wolfpack 15u, Clarkston)
Kaul is a rising point guard prospect from a program that’s had a history of really good lead guards. He played really well in multiple facets of the game this weekend and should be considered a player to watch moving forward.
Chas Lewless Chas Lewless 6'3" | PG Detroit King | 2024 KS (2024, PG, Bates Fundamentals 2024, Detroit Catholic Central)
Lewless deserves to be talked about more on a national scale. To me, he looks like an elite floor general. Lewless knows when his team needs a bucket and he can do it at a very high clip. He’s also one of the best guards in the midwest when it comes to setting the table and puuting the ball where it needs to be. Lewless did all of the above this weekend.
Mason Parker Mason Parker PG Troy | 2025 State MI (2025, PG, Michigan Goonies 16u, Troy)
Parker was a head turner this weekend. He showed that he has the potential be one of the top pure shooters in the state over the next few years. His weekend was highlighted by a 26 point game in a close win over Omaha Elite.
Nino Smith Nino Smith 6'0" | CG Warren De La Salle | 2023 State MI (2023, PG, Michigan Playmakers 17u, De La Salle)
Smith looked more than steady this weekend. He knew when to feed the hot hand as well as when to go and get a bucket. Smith’s ball handling and situational feel for the action stood out.
Brady Swartz Brady Swartz 6'7" | SG Grand Rapids Northview | 2025 State MI (2025, CG, MBA 15u, Mona Shores)
Ladies and gentleman, we have a young shooting star. Get used to the phrase ‘Swartz for 3’, because it’ll be said a lot over the next few years. This weekend he went off for 39 points in a game, including 9 triples.
James Weaver James Weaver 5'10" | CG River Rouge | 2024 State MI (2024, PG, Downriver Bad Boyz AAU NY2LA, River Rouge)
Weaver has been a beast early in the grassroots season. He’s scoring at a high clip as well as creating for his teammates and delivering the ball to them in scoring positions. He has the look of a very high end lead guard.
