Last weekend, the Nike EYBL circuit kicked off with a bang. Not only was it the first EYBL session of the year, but it was also the first NCAA Recruiting Live Period. That said, many prospects around the country saw their stock take off after Session 1.

In today’s article, we will focus on Texas-based prospects. Here are my top Texas performers from the EYBL Session 1 event last weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id="892162" first="Ron" last="Holland"] (2023) | 6-8, PF | Drive Nation |

[player_tooltip player_id="892162" first="Ron" last="Holland"] is a household name at this point in the class of 2023. As you’d expect from the No. 1 ranked player in the state of Texas, Holland had his way throughout the Orlando session.

The 6-8 forward averaged 14.5 ppg, 2.5 apg, and 6 rpg through four games in Orlando. While Holland didn’t have his best offensive showing, his impact was felt all over the court, whether that was on the glass, defensively, or getting a bucket when his team needed one.

Holland is being recruited by some of the top programs in the country right now and figures to be a top 15 prospect nationally when it’s all said and done.

[player_tooltip player_id="892163" first="Drew" last="Steffe"] (2023) | 6-6, SG | Pro Skills

Texas Tech commit [player_tooltip player_id="892163" first="Drew" last="Steffe"] has become one of the more versatile offensive prospects in the state of Texas. Not only is he a threat from deep, but he also does a great job of facilitating and finding the open man when drawing defenders into the paint.

Steffe averaged 16.8 ppg. 5.5 rpg, and 4 apg through four games, which looks right in line with most of his high school stat lines. He’s long enough to get shots over just about anyone, and his creativity offensively allows for him to make everyone around him better.

Look for Steffe to continue impressing not only as a scorer but as a creator.

[player_tooltip player_id="787367" first="Wesley" last="Yates"] (2023) | 6-4. SG | LOFDL

Yates put on an absolute show in Orlando. The top 35 player nationally averaged 19.7 ppg and 2 rpg, leading team LOFDL to a 3-1 weekend record.

Yates was impressive on both ends of the ball and scored with ease throughout the weekend. He’s a true three-level scorer that is nearly impossible to shut down when he gets going from deep.

Yates is being recruited heavily from top programs around the country and recently visited Auburn and LSU. Look for his stock to continue rising over the summer.

[player_tooltip player_id="1039603" first="Zayden" last="High"] (2023) | 6-9 PF | JL3 Elite

No one in the country saw their stock explode over the weekend more than [player_tooltip player_id="1039603" first="Zayden" last="High"].

The 6-9 forward out of Spring Branch, TX put on a clinic in Orlando averaging 21.7 ppg and 5.5 rpg. High shot it 57% from the field and 29% from 3-PT range while leading JL3 to a 2-2 record.

After this weekend’s performance, High pulled in offers from Texas Tech, Alabama, Michigan, Oklahoma, Kansas St, and Wake Forest.

I wouldn’t expect his recruitment to slow down anytime soon, and he’s a prime candidate for a big ranking bump in the next class of 2023 rankings update.
