The Chi-Town Tip Off was an awesome weekend of hoops! Many of the top teams from Chicago and Illinois were in the building! We breakdown the event in Chi-Town Tip Off: Scotty B’s Top 2023 Illinois Performers!

[player_tooltip player_id="1173451" first="Noah" last="Campbell"] (All-In Athletics)

Campbell put on a show Friday night to kick off the weekend. The smaller guard was dynamic with his ball handling getting wherever he wanted, but was most effective draining threes at a high clip. Kid plays with a lot of confidence and it translates over to the players around him as they believe in their leader at the point.

[player_tooltip player_id="939050" first="Darrin" last="Ames"] (Mac Irvin Fire)

State’s top junior put together quite a productive weekend. Ames is an awesome ball handler that has an array of tricks in his bag with his slick scoring off the bounce. Combination moves and some amazing spins for scores. He was solid as a shooter hitting some contested shots and step backs. Flashes as a passer, but is definitely more of a scoring combo guard. He can turn up the heat on the defensive end.

Orlando James (The Work Foundation)

This Morgan Park lead guard opened our eyes with a monster Friday night performance. The 5’11” point guard was unconscious shooting it from deep draining an array of threes while mixing in runners along with quick dishes inside for dump off finds to his big man.

[player_tooltip player_id="1279770" first="Emory" last="Marshall"] (Illinois Jaguars)

Marshall had another strong outing after his big weekend in Indy. The Montini point guard was a terror in transition with he way he turned steals into points on the other end of the floor. He is at his best in the open floor where he can use his speed, burst, and finishing.

Josh Jones (Illini Magic)

Jones is a scoring guard from Chatham Glenwood with positional size at 6’6”. Flashed some athletic pop and the ability to be fluid with the rock in his hands. Rebounded well for a guard.

[player_tooltip player_id="1048730" first="Jaydin" last="Dunlap"] (Next Generation)

Dunlap is an unsigned senior that is going to be a steal for the small college or JUCO that lands him. The Bolingbrook guard was lights out with his two way game being a force defensively while also winning off the bounce over and over again for scores at the cup. Tough and heady guard!

[player_tooltip player_id="1431502" first="Ethan" last="Andre"] (M14)

The Belevidere North point guard carried his team against the Fire on Saturday morning. He was amazing with his shot making over and over again in a 16 point performance. The 5’10” 2023 guard certainly made a name for himself this weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id="939059" first="Jalen" last="Griffith"] (Team Rose)

Griffith has been a known name for a long time. The lead guard from Simeon is a dynamic ball handler that is excellent as a set up man and running his team. Such a high basketball IQ. As a scorer he is slick with it off the bounce for runners and is extremely adept at knocking in pull up threes and mid-range shots. More low-majors need to invest time here.

[player_tooltip player_id="939051" first="Darrion" last="Baker"] (Team Rose)

Baker keeps seeing his stock go up and up this spring. A lot of buzz with how he played at 3SBB was proven true at Chi-Town Tip Off. The strong bodied post has added quite a bit of face up skill attacking his defender with quick moves, spins, and even a nice euro step in transition. Showed improvements on his three point shot and played with physicality along with athleticism in the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id="1215293" first="Mekhi" last="Doby"] (Illinois Elite)

The Rockford Guilford star wing was very good when we saw him against Team Rose. Lengthy wing with a feathery jumper. Connected on several from deep along with some runners and 15 footers. Three and D potential at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id="1215287" first="Jake" last="Fiegen"] (Full Package)

Speaking of shooting. This is the best shooter in Illinois. He flat out hits daggers! Had several against the Fire in the win and hit a crazy one to send their Team Rose game to OT. Quick and precise release. Every time it goes up you think it is going in. One of the best pure catch and shoot guys I have covered.

[player_tooltip player_id="1215311" first="Nikola" last="Abusara"] (Full Package 17U)

This Benet wing is a tremendous all-around glue guy. He brings athleticism, versatility, and can really defend. His slashing and toughness shined through in their win against Mac Irvin. Was heart and soul of that victory!

Josiah Mills (BC Elite 17U)

Mills had a monster game on Sunday morning. The 6’2” shooting guard drained an array of threes with a uber clean shot creating on his own and off the catch. Handled it well and had a couple acrobatic finishes at the cup. Pesky defender with active hands.
