I was stationed at Drive 5 so my coverage will be centered around those that played there during the #PrepHoopsLive that I was able to see.
Here are 5 wings that stood out from Saturday’s games:
Terrell Irons, 6’2 W/G, EG10 2025: Has a really smooth game and operates with great pace on the floor and forces opposing teams to guard him at a disadvantage constantly. Comes off of hand offs, screens, and cuts with purpose and has an effective skill set scoring the ball off these actions. Good with the ball in his hands and is great at catching and scoring quick off teammates passes for shots or plays at the rim. Great lift on his jump shot and knocks it down in the mid range.
Dallas Metzger Dallas Metzger 6'3" | SF Derby | 2024 State KS , 6’2 W/F, Team Dream 2024: After a strong finish to the high school year, it was nice to see Metzger again playing on Saturday with his Team Dream squad. Has great upside with a versatile skill set which he showed during my time watching Saturday. Did a great job scoring in the paint, facing up and attacking, and getting out on the break. Is a great player to pair with dynamic playmakers as he is an efficient scorer. Was a Top Performer picked out from our staff on the day. Continues to improve daily, going to be a big time player as the spring progresses.
Colby Smith Colby Smith 6'3" | PG New Trier | 2025 State IL , 6’2 W/G, Full Package Black 2025: Does a great job of getting to his spots off the bounce and can get up into his jump shot over contests quickly with pop. Guards players with great intensity, crashes on the boards on both ends, and his athleticism made him tough to keep from scoring or from getting to the foul line in transition. Very talented player on the perimeter, like his shooting ability off the catch and his on ball arsenal of moves getting from hand to hand was top notch.
Bobby Burrell Jr, 6’2 W, Oklahoma Runners 2024 (Pictured): During my time watching him on Saturday, showed off his physical and athletic ability on the basketball floor. Absolutely flies around on defense, to the boards, and covers a ton of ground when on the attack or in transition. Love the motor he plays with and versatility at where he can be effective on the basketball floor. Can guard multiple positions, got deflections and steals in a little zone press, and converted those into instant offense for himself or for others. Had double figures in averaging scoring throughout the day Saturday.
Colin Frazier, 6’5 W/F, SSA Elite 2025 Black: Already sitting at about 6’5, has long arms, and is strong enough where if he is guarding some 4’s and 5’s does not get knocked off his spots with the quickness to guard most 3 to 5’s on the floor with comfortability to switch and guard some guards. Protected the rim well in some big games on Saturday with multiple blocks in both games on plays at the rim or walling up in the paint. Also displayed the potential of being an elite 3 and D prospect, drilling multiple threes in the Saturday games including two late 3’s to help clinch a win in a close game Saturday evening, especially off the catch from either corner.
