The high school basketball season will wrap up today in Lakeland. With that in mind, the spring circuit will be quickly on the horizon.

Which prospects could breakout over the next several months? Some of these selections are from players I saw over the high school season.

Lets’ dive into it...

[player_tooltip player_id="1055757" first="Dylan" last="Hoffman"] - North Broward Prep

2024 [player_tooltip player_id="1055757" first="Dylan" last="Hoffman"] logged some time over 28 listed games for the Eagles. The 6-foot-1 point guard played with composure when called upon against some talented opponents. Keep in mind, Hoffman played on a North Broward Prep team that won 27 games and had six seniors on its roster. I thought he possessed a good handle when I saw him in action. Hoffman runs with TDT Elite.

Mason Fuentes - Westminster Academy

2026 Mason Fuentes played 28 listed games for a Lions’ team that went 22-7 overall. Against Mays (GA), he scored a season-high 11 points and grabbed seven boards on 5-of-6 shooting from the floor. Moreover, Fuentes had four or more rebounds in ten games. This is an athletic kid with an outside shot. I think his game experience and offseason work will carry over into the spring.

Myles Fuentes - Westminster Academy

Like his brother, 2027 Myles Fuentes received some time for Westminster Academy. Against Brito, he scored a season-high eight points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field. Overall, Fuentes played in 20 listed games. Again, you have a seventh grader putting in valuable time at the high school level. Both players have a ton of potential. Their older brother, [player_tooltip player_id="829406" first="Maximus" last="Fuentes"], was a senior on North Broward Prep.

Rey Daniels - North Miami

2024 Rey Daniels was productive for a Pioneers’ team that went 22-5 overall. The 5-foot-10 point guard averaged eight points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 50 percent from the floor. Moreover, Daniels went 28-of-58 (48 percent) from deep. Against LaSalle, he scored a season-high 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field. In addition, Daniels hit six 3-pointers! He could be in for a very big spring and junior season with North Miami graduating a number of seniors. His brother, [player_tooltip player_id="1065430" first="Rick" last="Daniels"], was one of those seniors.

Calvin Russel - Mater Academy Charter

2026 Calvin Russel had a big season for Mater Academy Charter. The 6-foot-5 guard averaged 12.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, four assists, 2.1 steals and 1.4 blocks per game while shooting 47 percent from the floor. Against Archbishop Carroll, Russel scored a season-high 24 points while grabbing nine boards on 10-of-15 shooting from the field. Overall, Russel recorded five double-doubles. Against Miami Southridge (16-9), he scored 21 points and went 3-of-4 from deep. Russel has a bright future. More to come on Mater Academy Charter in the future.
