As we have not posted a ranking of 2025s yet, the list below does not include ninth graders.
Here are some unranked 1A players who stood out in at their tournaments (in alphabetical order):
Keagan Dimler, 6-foot-2 forward, 2022, Hanover:
Dimler produced a ton as one of the many components of that dynamic Hanover team. He didn’t shoot a great percentage, but he was a big each game. After racking up 27 points and 5 assists against Central Plains, Dimler scored 11 and 13 in the next two games.
Derek Hoelting, 6-foot guard, 2022, Olpe:
One of the best matchups – Olpe vs South Gray – was perhaps Hoelting’s best game. It certainly produced an impressive stat line. He hit 11-17 from the field for 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. He scored 63 points in the tournament.
Rogelio Ibarra, 5-foot-8 guard, 2023, Macksville:
Macksville will be one of the top returning teams next year, and Ibarra is one of their leaders. He was consistent across all three games of the tournament. He scored 13 against Osborne, 9 against Olpe, and 13 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists against Solomon.
Jorge Lupercio, 5-foot-10 guard, 2023, South Gray:
South Gray came up short of he state championship against Olpe, but Lupercio showed a ton as one of the Rebels’ primary assets. He was efficient against Ness City and Solomon, scoring 37 points on 17-30 shooting. He showed his versatility by getting 7 assists against Solomon and 8 rebounds against Olpe.
Brent Penner, 6-foot-3 forward, 2022, South Gray:
Penner was a huge part of South Gray’s success the past couple of years. He finished with 31 points in the tournament.
Kenton Thalheim, 6-foot guard, 2024 Northern Valley:
Aside from team leader Bailey Sides Bailey Sides 6'0" | CG Northern Valley | 2022 State KS , someone different came up big every game for Northern Valley. Thalheim was one of the key guys and has a bright future as a sophomore. He got 14 against Waverly and 12 against Bucklin. Thalheim hit 8-9 free throws over three games.
