Point Guard Luke Henderson is a top D2 target

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The state of Kansas has a number of quality lead guards to choose from. For some schools, the talent they are choosing to pursue is six foot-one combo guard [player_tooltip player_id='2205722' first='Luke' last='Henderson'] from Wichita East High School.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This past winter Henderson averaged 20.1 points a game with six rebounds, four assists and two steals a game. He shot 42 percent from the field and made a third of his threes. His junior season was highlighted by All Metro First Team, All State Second Team, and a 40 point double overtime performance that made a ton of headlines. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Adrian Maloney of Prep Hoops described the 40 point performance in the following way:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>"(Luke) delivered a performance that will be remembered for a long time, drilling eight three-pointers and finishing with 40 total points. When the game extended into overtime, he elevated his play even further, knocking down two of his eight threes during the extra periods to help swing momentum in East's favor. With the defense tightening and every possession magnified, Henderson showed poise and confidence, creating space and converting from beyond the arc when it mattered most. His ability to stretch the floor and score under pressure was the difference-maker in a hard-fought, high-scoring battle."</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As for Luke's 17u season....</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>"My season has gone pretty well," Luke said of this spring. "I am working on my mid-range and my three. Some of the best moments have been playing the game the right way: scoring, facilitating, and just playing the right way. My goal the rest of the summer is to just keep working on my game."</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>College coaches at the division two level are seeing Luke play the game in that way and have become quite interested.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>"I have got college interest from Missouri Southern State, McPherson College, and a couple other division two schools," Luke said. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Luke and his team will be back competing during the live periods in July. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
