The state tournament has wrapped up now and capped off a very entertaining year in high school hoops. There were a lot of talented scorers this year in Florida. Let’s take a look at who scored the ball the best.

Jasien Lopez PG 8th Grade 5’10" (True North Classical Academy) - Playing varsity as an 8th grader, Jasien Lopez led the state in scoring this year with a jaw dropping 29.8 points per game. This is definitely a kid to watch over the next couple of years.

[player_tooltip player_id="1055782" first="Lorenzo" last="Cason"] G So. 6’2" (Victory Christian Academy) - Cason had an outstanding sophomore year leading his team to a record of 18-10 while averaging 27.6 points per game. He had back to back games with 40+ points. Expect to hear the name [player_tooltip player_id="1055782" first="Lorenzo" last="Cason"] more next year.

Jacob Gallop G/F Sr. 6’5" (Hernando Christian Academy) - The senior started the year off with a 31 point performance and did not slow down from there. He averaged 26.5 points for the year. His season high was a mind-blowing 46 point masterpiece.

[player_tooltip player_id="598747" first="Javon" last="Bennett"] PG Sr. 5’10" (Trinity Prep) - Averaging 26.2 points per game, Bennett had 7 games with 30+ points. In back to back games against incredibly talented teams in Lake Highland Prep and Windermere High School, [player_tooltip player_id="598747" first="Javon" last="Bennett"] had 33 and 25. The senior guard is committed to Merrimack College.

Coy Sizemore PG Fr. 5’10" (Meadowbrook Academy) - Sizemore is a very talented scorer and is only a freshman. He averaged 25.6 ppg. He started the year off with 43 points against Faith Christian Academy.

Jizzle James PG Jr. 6’1" (Olympia High School) - Perhaps the most talented player on this list, EJ "Jizzle" James was outstanding this year for Olympia High School, averaging 25.4 points per game. He is a do it all guard and can score at will. James has already received offers from Georgetown, Florida, Ole Miss, and SMU.

Isaiah Renaud G 6’4" So. (Sheridan Hills Christian High School) - Renaud averaged 25.2 ppg this year and racked up several 30+ point games. He is a pure scorer and I expect him to continue to play at a high level for his remains two years of high school.

[player_tooltip player_id="709259" first="Sam" last="Walters"] F Jr. 6’9" (The Villages Charter) - Walters is an incredibly intriguing prospect. He averaged 24.6 ppg this year and poses a threat every time he gets the ball in his hands. A top 20 player in the state, Walters has gathered interest from several D1 school and I expect loads more to be getting in line.
