The best match-ups to watch Wednesday night of the 4A sweet sixteen.

Riverdale Ridge @ Mead

Mead is the favorite to win this game but do not be surprised if this young Riverdale Ridge team puts up a fight. Down low there will be a battle between 7 footer [player_tooltip player_id="1284551" first="James" last="Shiers"] of Mead and 6'7 [player_tooltip player_id="1285120" first="Brady" last="Greene"] of Riverdale Ridge. James is the more experienced player but Brady is a straight hustler who can give opposing bigs problems. Riverdale Ridge is going to have the very hard task of slowing down Colorado Mesa commit [player_tooltip player_id="1284466" first="Elijah" last="Knudsen"], this year he is averaging 18.5 points per game and will surely put the team on his back when needed. [player_tooltip player_id="1325691" first="Ryan" last="Leopold"] leads Riverdale Ridge in scoring but this is a team that moves the ball very well getting a lot of players involved. This will be a good game to watch up North.

D'Evelyn @ Frederick

According to the rankings, these two teams are the closed ranked to each other of the sweet sixteen match-ups with Frederick being ranked 6th and D'Evelyn ranked 11th. Frederick dominated the 4A Long's Peak League this year going 9-0. Sharpshooting junior Luke Justice has led the way for Frederick, he brings great energy to his team and has been their best scorer. D'Evelyn has multiple layers that contribute, one standout has been 6'3 junior [player_tooltip player_id="1285211" first="Elijah" last="Gusmus"], Elijah can spread the floor well, is good at picking pockets, and does not mind grabbing boards for his team. Both of these teams have had very successful seasons with deep rosters, this is looking to be a good one.

Steamboat Springs @ Centaurus

Steamboat Springs is coming hot off of an upset win against Green Mountain and will have another tough challenge to keep their Cinderella story alive playing Centaurus. This game will be a battle of the teams' opposing wing and big man duos. Centaurus has a strong senior tandem with John "JT" Lewicki and Kevin Bedford. John is a talented 6'4 wing who is a good athlete and a three-level scorer. Kevin mans the middle standing at 6'7, he is a great rim protector almost averaging 3 blocks a game. Steamboat Springs duo is made of Parker Lindquist and [player_tooltip player_id="969440" first="Cade" last="Gedeon"]. Parker Lindquist is a good spot-up three-point shooter but the junior [player_tooltip player_id="969440" first="Cade" last="Gedeon"] has been the most complete player for Steamboat as he does a bit of everything for his team including rebounding, moving the ball, and scoring.

Discovery Canyon @ Montrose

Montrose has yet to loose a game this season they have been on a terror going 25-0. Montrose is a team that is very good defensively as a whole but my have trouble against Discovery Canyon's 6'8 big man Aiden Pretchel who has been playing very well recently. [player_tooltip player_id="967537" first="Luke" last="Hutto"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1151695" first="Ashden" last="Oberg"] will have the task of slowing down Aiden. Discovery Canyon will have the task of slowing down Montrose's leader [player_tooltip player_id="967537" first="Luke" last="Hutto"], who is a big guard who likes to take advantage of smaller guards in the high and low post where he is a creative scorer. This senior heavy Montrose squad will be looking to return to the state championship while Discovery Canyon will be fighting as the underdogs, this should be a good one!
