Anthony Johnson Anthony Johnson 6'3" | PG Midfield | 2022 State AL , 5’10 PG Kettering Fairmont 2022
Dasan Doucet Dasan Doucet 6'4" | SF Fairmont | 2022 State OH , 6’4 SF Kettering Fairmont 2022
I’m pairing these two players together because they played such similar roles in Fairmont’s impressive dismantling of Sycamore. Both players were looked upon to create with their scoring gravity and dribble drive game. Both players stepped up like you would expect seniors to play and routinely found open teammates for easy looks. The pair made seven field goals but also had seven assists that in my opinion were the reason why Fairmont moved on. Both of these players should be getting scholarship looks (Doucet already has a couple) and will be moving up in the final rankings update after the state tournament.
Aamil Wagner, 6’6 C Huber Heights Wayne 2022: Wagner is a Notre Dame football commit, and certainly looks the part in warmups with his massive frame. Wagner has taken huge strides on the basketball court from last season, becoming better defensively with improved hands and finishing ability. Wagner’s eight rebounds led the game and his 3/4 shooting on layups helped create some separation for the Warriors.
Tom House Tom House 6'5" | SF Centerville | 2022 State OH , 6’5 SF Centerville 2022: House came out firing out of the gates, helping Centerville obtain a 27-4 lead early in the second quarter. House was also dropping dimes, finishing the game with five assists. With House’s confidence, you’ll never see him back down from a challenge and in front of his future coach in Leonard Hamilton, put together one of his best games of the season with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.
William Layfield William Layfield 6'3" | SG Lakota West | 2022 State OH , 6’4 SF Lakota West 2022: Layfield did most of his damage during the third quarter run that Lakota West went on, scoring a lot around the basket with drives in the half court or leak outs after rebounds or turnovers. Layfield is best in the open court and should be recruited by teams looking for a wing who wants to push the pace and can hit the occasional open 3-pointer as well.
Logan Woods Logan Woods 6'4" | SG Fairfield | 2022 State OH , 6’4 SG Fairfield 2022: When it came down to winning time, Woods was the guy who stepped up and carried his team to the district title. The senior has a lot of intangibles that help your team win and isn’t afraid of the big moment. A perfect 3 and D prospect, Woods showed off both of these skills with five 3-pointers and stellar perimeter defense throughout the game. Woods found a great fit at Wright State and I think he has a shot to be a starter down the road for them. Simply put, Woods refused to let his high school career come to an end this game.
