Postseason action has been heavy in the area this week. Now seems like a good time to unpack some notes. Here is a rundown of some standouts from recent games.

Michael Baskerville | Damascus ’23

Baskerville is one of several Damascus players who is a good rebounder. He is not afraid to go in a crowd and fight for a 50/50 ball. Baskerville uses his length to get blocks and steals as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="1362723" first="Ben" last="Bradford"] | Gaithersburg ’23

We finally got eyes on Bradford after he tore it up all season long. A taller guard who is crafty around the rim, Bradford is a pure bucket-getter.

[player_tooltip player_id="1358593" first="Jordan" last="Kwende"] | Springbrook ’22

Kwende plays much bigger than he looks. He threw a block party on Wednesday night at Damascus.

Joey Lutz | Damascus ’23

Lutz can put the ball in the hole. He is a threat from three but can also mix it up inside the arc. Lutz also took a charge against Springbrook on Wednesday.

Peter Mangan | Damascus ’23

Mangan is a versatile guard. He can handle, pass, and shoot at a high level. Mangan will also rebound his position.

Solomon Mensah | Gaithersburg ’23

Mensah is a premier athlete with a good feel for the game. He does a bit of everything well. Expect Mensah to find a comfortable ranking next time the list is released.

Patrick Nguyen | Seton ’24

Nguyen is a dynamic guard prospect who plays with high energy. He is a difference-maker on both ends in part because of his athleticism and relentless effort.

[player_tooltip player_id="1110554" first="Mandela" last="Tarke"] | Damascus ’22

Tarke is often one of the better athletes while on the floor. He gets to the basket at will and can be a menace defensively.

Jack Vanderwoude | Seton ’22

Vanderwoude has established himself as one of the area's top long-range threats. The lefty drained 8 of 14 long bombs vs. Nansemond-Suffolk.

Bobby Vanderwoude | Seton ’22

Vanderwoude is the engine for the Conquistadors. He reads the passing lanes like a free safety and distributes the ball like a mailman. Vanderwoude will also keep you honest and either shoot or blow past you for a layup if you're not paying attention.
