Lawson Vella Lawson Vella 6'0" | PG Cleveland | 2022 State OR (2023 Cleveland)
Not the hugest numbers statistically for Vella against Roosevelt – 10 points – but his play was crucial in Cleveland’s win. The 6-foot guard calmly handled the Roughrider defensive pressure with his crafty handle, and he was able to hit some big shots at crucial points in the game. His gritty play and leadership have been an extension of head coach Dondrale Campbell all season long.
Spencer McKelligon Spencer McKelligon 6'3" | SF Jesuit | 2022 State OR (2022 Jesuit)
McKelligon will be playing football in college but for Jesuit on the basketball floor, he’s become increasingly important as the team’s top frontline player. He’s not particularly tall at 6-foot-3 but plays big and uses his strength effectively to provide some inside scoring and on the boards and defense. He was rock solid with 9 points in a win over Sunset.
Luke McNabb Luke McNabb 6'2" | SF Scappoose | 2022 State OR (2022 Scappoose)
McNabb had himself quite a day against La Salle. The lefty – who was the 4A offensive player of the year at quarterback – posted up strong inside and went to work, using his footwork and strength to power his way to some tough buckets in the paint often finishing through contact. He stepped out and hit a couple of mid-range jumpers as well and finished with a game-high 26 points.
Steve Kovac (2022 Reynolds)
Novac projects more as a baseball prospect for his future but there’s definitely one thing the senior can do well on the court – knock down the three. The 6-foot guard was particularly proficient in the corner and ended up knocking down four from distance on the night. He also converted a traditional three-point play and finished with a team-high 16 points.
Jovanny Guzman (2022 Reynolds)
It’s been a tough year for Reynolds but Guzman has stayed the course and played hard throughout. The 6-foot senior got off to a slow start against Reynolds but started to get things going in the second half, especially getting to the hoop and drawing contact. The lefty who is hard-nosed and tough finished with 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Nathan Perkins-Fuesser Nathan Perkins-Fuesser 6'0" | PG Benson | 2022 State OR (2022 Benson)
Perkins-Fuesser has really stepped up as a scorer as of late for the Techmen. The senior, who recently signed with Multnomah, has been getting it done with his perimeter shot and against Wells. He was an efficient 7-for-9 from the floor and 2-for-3 from three-point range, but also did a good job of taking care of the basketball and keeping it moving in the Benson offense.
