Chambers vs Weddington

The Warriors are coming off a hard-fought win behind a dominant third quarter, coming out of halftime down six. They held Cox Mill to only six points behind reliable defense and a strong 15-0 run after a made basket by the Chargers to start the second half. A strong performance from the duo of senior [player_tooltip player_id="1028003" first="Kyle" last="Frazier"] and junior [player_tooltip player_id="1241705" first="Evan" last="Morton"], both tallying 16 points leading the Warriors to a 13 point win at home. One would argue that these last two games against Cox Mill and an overtime thriller against Olympic was the toughest competition the Warriors played all year.

[player_tooltip player_id="848074" first="Chase" last="Lowe"] is a senior that I am surprised he hasn’t gotten more attention this season. Leading his team in every statistical category, he will have his work cut out for him. Playing against one of the best junior point guards in the state, in [player_tooltip player_id="947288" first="Jaylen" last="Curry"]. A 14 point performance, combined with seven assists, and three steals helped propel Julius Chambers High over Grimsley High Saturday.

The Cougars come in with a lot of games against tougher competition throughout the season. While also having multiple D-1 talent players at the helm leading the way, most notably captain [player_tooltip player_id="787676" first="Daniel" last="Sanford"] who filled up the stat sheet last night. Finishing with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Four players were in double figures for Chambers, their length and fast-paced offense can be hard to stop. Weddington has not truly seen a team as talented, with this level of intensity Chambers will play with. This game will come down to the attentiveness of the players on the court defensively specifically, speaking on back screens and outworking their opponent will be key.

Key Matchup: [player_tooltip player_id="947288" first="Jaylen" last="Curry"] vs [player_tooltip player_id="848074" first="Chase" last="Lowe"]

Myers Park vs North Meck

A battle between two of the best sophomores arguably in the Country will take place. When [player_tooltip player_id="1154560" first="Isaiah" last="Evans"] and the Vikings of North Meck will face off against [player_tooltip player_id="1180892" first="Sir" last="Mohammed"] and the Mustangs of Myers Park. Two well-coached teams with loads of D-1 talent face off in a matchup of evenly matched teams for bragging rights for these teams full of youth that have the chance of seeing each other again in the playoffs, this year or the year after that maybe.

The Vikings of North Meck defeated Mount tabor, pulling away in the third quarter behind a huge game from senior guard [player_tooltip player_id="1028009" first="Davion" last="Cunningham"](17 points 5 assists) and the efficient scoring and stifling defense(4 blocks) from sophomore [player_tooltip player_id="1154560" first="Isaiah" last="Evans"]. Carrying a twelve-point lead into the fourth, the Vikings closed the game out behind the lead guard [player_tooltip player_id="1121033" first="Jordan" last="Crawford"], the biggest game of his career Tuesday at home against Myers Park.

Northern Guilford stayed with the Mustangs until late in the fourth, they would not be deterred from their goal this season. The Mustangs are feeling motivated after making the Elite 8 this season after losing in the first round the two years prior. [player_tooltip player_id="1180892" first="Sir" last="Mohammed"] was sensational, shooting 50% from the field and the three-point line. Totaling 29 points, six rebounds, and three assists. One of the most confident shooters in the State, with good reason.

Mohammed does an amazing job getting to his spots and getting his shots off in rhythm. He has such good size at 6’5" and a hell of a motor, a player with good pace and has the potential to become a high-level college player as well. Excited to see these evenly matched teams face-off, the sophomore matchup will be the matchup of the night to watch.
