EDC Game Report: Davies v. Red River

<p>In a battle between two top four teams in the Eastern Dakota Conference the Davies Eagles bested the Red River RoughRiders. Both squads came into this game on a respectable winning streak with lots of confidence, and neither were going to back down. In the end the final score finished at 90-79 and players on both teams showed up when the ball hit the hardwood. </p>
<p>Fargo Davies (19-2)</p>
<p>Against Red River the Davies Eagles were suffocating on defense. The number one team in the East had 20 steals in the contest compared to their opponents total of 6. They also only committed 7 fouls all game, keeping the RoughRiders off of the charity stripe. Other areas where the Eagles succeeded were free throw percentage, bench points, second chance points, and rebounding. With talent like this, and an excellent coaching staff, this Davies team will be hard to deal with when the postseason begins. </p>
<p>Grand Forks Red River (13-7)</p>
<p>Although they may have lost the game, Red River showed that they are not a team to be taken lightly. Against Davies the Rough Riders shot the ball well from all areas and played unselfishly. Things that hurt the Red and White were turnovers, sending the Eagles to the line, and not creating enough opportunities on the defensive end. This team has talent, a great coaching staff, and dedicated players, so I believe that if things click they can have success in the playoffs. </p>
