I watched the Wabash Valley Shootout on Monday, the Bob Wettig Memorial Tournament on Tuesday, the Paul Loggan Memorial Invitational on Wednesday, and both the Hall of Fame Classic and Phil Cox Memorial Tournament on Thursday. In total, I watched 20 games over the course of four days. Here are some of the evaluations from the busy week.
Cade Brenner Cade Brenner 6'3" | SG NorthWood | 2023 State IN (NorthWood H.S. 2023): Brenner is one of the better pure shooters in the Class of 2023 and showcased that on Tuesday at the Bob Wettig. He can light it up in a hurry from beyond the arc with excellent footwork off of screens and a quick release. 6’2″-6’3″ guard with a solid, strong frame. One of the better northern Indiana prospects that people aren’t talking a whole lot about yet.
Colin Comer Colin Comer 6'4" | SG Greensburg | 2022 State IN (Greensburg H.S. 2022): A 6’2″-6’3″ scoring guard, Comer helped lead the Pirates to four wins at the Bob Wettig Memorial Tournament. He uses his athleticism very well attacking the basket and is great at getting to the foul line. Also, Comer can create his own shot from beyond the arc as well. Averaging 18 points per game for an 8-2 Greensburg team. One of the best guards still on the board in 2022.
Colin Frank (Terre Haute North H.S. 2022): Frank is a 6’5″ long, athletic forward that projects well to the Division III level as a four-man. He was excellent around the basket on Monday showing nice finishing ability with his little right hand jump hook. Also very active on the glass. Deserves more attention statewide as the most productive player on an 11-0 team.
Randy Kelley Randy Kelley 6'0" | PG Sullivan | 2022 State IN (Sullivan H.S. 2022): This 6’0″ senior guard stood out as one of the best players at the Wabash Valley Tournament. He is quick off of the bounce with an effective first step to create penetration. Also, Kelly is an efficient scorer from all three levels. Showed the ability to create his own shot. Averaging 20.2 points and 5 assists per game for a Sullivan team that compete at the top of Class 3A.
Brock Kincaid Brock Kincaid 6'3" | SG Bloomington South | 2022 State IN (Bloomington H.S. South 2022): Kincaid is an athletic finisher that love to attack closeouts and finish at the rim. At 6’3″ with his athleticism he is very hard to stop when he is going down hill towards the basket. Projects as a solid two-way prospect on the wing. Good player for small colleges to recruit in the new year.
Zeke Tanoos Zeke Tanoos 6'4" | SG West Vigo | 2024 State IN (West Vigo H.S. 2024): A 6’3″ sophomore gurd, Tanoos put together an extremely impressive game when I saw West Vigo beat Shakamak. Tanoos is a great athlete with a long, lean frame. Excellent with the ball in his hands creating his own shot. Very, very good shooter off of the bounce and can make them well beyond the arc. All-around scorer that is as dynamic offensively as anyone in his class.
Kyle Thomas Kyle Thomas 6'4" | SG Cloverdale | 2022 State IN (Cloverdale H.S. 2022): Bigger 6’4″ wing that is really hard to stop with his combination of size, strength, and athleticism. Thomas is a jumper shooter that loves to elevate up and score over defenders in the mid-range. He is physical enough to mix it up around the basket and is a very good rebounding guard. Pure scorer who will get buckets right away at the small college level.
Christian Woods Christian Woods 6'5" | PF Central Christian Academy | 2022 IN (Central Christian H.S. 2022): Woods is a strong 6’5″ forward that operates well in the paint and has the skill level to drive it from the wings against bigger defenders. He can be a real matchup problem with his inside/outside game. Will be a solid Division III 4-man. Woods scored 22 points as Central Christian was defeated by Fort Wayne Northrop.
