Harlan 49 Holy Trinity 37
In the 7th place game Harlan jumped out early on a Holy Trinity team that has been riddled with players who been sitting out most of the week due to covid. 2023 Reaquan Walker led the charge for Harlan scoring 15 points including 12 in the second half. Walker is an athletic guard that forces guys into bad situations when playing defense. He turned many steals into easy points.
Chicago Richards 56 UP Englewood 40
In the fifth-place game the senior duo Javon Hill and Miles Heard led the way in a fast paced game. Hill made a trio of threes in the first half to open up the lead. And Heard scored twelve of his 14 points all in the second half to keep UP Englewood down. Super intriguing wing/guard 2022 Tyron Jackson of UP Englewood finished with 21 points.
Crane 58 UC Woodlawn 54
The third-place game Crane and UC Woodlawn had a battle of senior point guards
In Terrance Patton (Crane) and Daniel Brown (UC Woodlawn). Patton would control the early part of the game as he scored 12 in the first quarter alone. Brown who missed the first two games stepped up in the second quarter to cut what was a double-digit lead by Crane to single digits by going on his own 13 point run. After the half Brown sat most of the quarter with breathing problems as Terrance again extended Crane’s lead and put them ahead for good. Patton and Brown both finished with 24 points.
Julian 51 Butler 46
The championship game was another exciting matchup as Butler Prep would lead most of the way. Class of 2022 forward Christian Scroggins did damage in the middle of Julian’s zone defense. But the play of 2024 forward Trevian Shatteen Trevian Shatteen 6'5" | PF Julian | 2024 State IL kept the Jaguars close. Shatteen scoring in the post and ability to control the glass was a huge factor in Julian staying close in the game. Eventually 2022 point guard Demetrius Tulloch would manage to get to the free throw line in the final minute of the game to go 6 for 6 and give Julian the win and the championship trophy. Scroggins (Butler) went for 17 points.
Shatteen (Julian) had 15 points and 13 rebounds. Tulloch (Julian) netted 11 points.
