The past few weeks I have been to a handful of games around the area and it is time to reflect on what I have seen. Today I am giving you part two of a new weekly piece that will come out every Sunday, but I am giving you all a bonus one this week! The focus of this article is to simply talk about a few guys who have helped their stock.

[player_tooltip player_id="837925" first="Chris" last="Gamble"] | 6’1 | Sidwell Friends

Gamble is one of the X factors for Eric Singletary and Sidwell. The 6’1 senior guard can be a difference maker on both ends of the ball. Defensively, he can guard some of the opposing team’s best players and offensively he is a reliable shot maker. There is a lot to like about Gamble as he could go down as one of the more underrated players in DC.

[player_tooltip player_id="1127314" first="Caleb" last="Williams"] | 6’7 | Sidwell Friends

When I saw Sidwell play last week, it was not Williams best game I have seen him play but again I walked away loving the potential and upside from the class of 2024 prospect. Williams has great length standing at 6’4. The lefty has a good looking shot and is capable of scoring the ball at all three levels. Williams has a very bright future and is near the top of the list for best long term 2024 prospect in MD/DC.

[player_tooltip player_id="904626" first="Shane" last="Lancaster"] | 6’4| St. John’s (Niagara)

The Niagara commit has really improved his game over the last year and has been one of the most productive players for St. John’s. Toughness wise you always know you are going to get the best out of him and that toughness he is playing with is starting to increase his numbers in the stat book. Lancaster goes hard after rebounds on both ends of the ball and is someone defenders have trouble staying in front of him when attacking the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id="1259542" first="Ben" last="Hammond"] | 5’10 | Paul VI

After a terrific career at Paul VI, the Panthers are set to lose Dug McDaniel after this season due to graduation. His replacement? 2024 [player_tooltip player_id="1259542" first="Ben" last="Hammond"]. Hammond has already shown similarities to McDaniel. Like McDaniel, Hammond is a small lead guard with tremendous speed and quickness. At some points this year, he has been the Panthers best player on the court. Expect to hear a lot more about Hammond down the line.

Darren Buchanan Jr. | 6’7 | Wilson

Buchanan Jr. has to be on this list because he has simply taken his game to another level this winter. Buchanan could very well be the favorite to win the prestigious “All Met” award. Buchanan is putting some ridiculous numbers for Wilson which helped Virginia Tech pull the trigger and offer the unsigned senior. Look out for the Hokies as they could be in the driver’s seat to land Buchanan Jr.
