Unsurprisingly, this starting five is filled with PVI players. The first one is Ben Hammond Ben Hammond 5'11" | PG Paul VI | 2024 State #143 Nation VA at PG. Ben is the engine of this PVI team, and throughout his High school career, he’s been one of my favorite players to watch. Ben’s defense and passing are huge to what PVI does. He’s one of the quickest players in the state, and he’s improved as a jump shooter.

-The WCAC 1st teamer played his role to perfection as a maestro for the Panthers’ offense while wreaking havoc as a help defender- digging down to grab 3 of his 4 steals to disrupt O’Connell’s offensive flow. His floater in the lane has developed into a lethal weapon, hitting 2 with a soft touch in transition off passes from his teammate. His ability to limit turnovers while forcing them at the other end is one of the biggest parts of what make him so valuable to this Paul VI run.

One of PVI’s greatest strengths is its ability to play with pace. It doesn’t matter if the ball goes in or not. They are going to push the pace. A big reason they do it so effectively is Ben Hammond Ben Hammond 5'11" | PG Paul VI | 2024 State #143 Nation VA . Hammond was his usual pest on defense and set the tone early, scoring the first few buckets of the game and never looking back. He finished with 11 points, 7 assists, and 5 rebounds in a comfortable win over Bishop O’Connell.
