I headed over to Fort Lauderdale to watch the Flying L’s take on St. Thomas Aquinas. The Raiders would go on to win this one by a final of 66-35.

Standouts:

James Madison - St. Thomas Aquinas

I heard "He’s gonna drive" in the stands and 6-foot-5 James Madison was still able to get to the tin and score. Madison is 225 pounds and runs like a guard. The two-sport (football) athlete finished with 11 points. Madison also knocked down a corner 3-pointer. This kid is tough to defend when he puts his head down. Kind of like Zion Williamson in my opinion the way he’s built. Honestly, he looks like a tight end. Madison is listed as a wide receiver.

Jordan Glass - Fort Lauderdale

2022 Jordan Glass finished with 14 points in a losing effort. The 6-foot senior has a good amount of quickness to finish at the rim. I also like his ability to spot up and hit a 3-pointer. Coming into the night, Glass was shooting 43 percent from beyond the arc. You gotta respect his ability to shoot the three while driving and finishing at the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id="1139735" first="Ramez" last="Zayed"] - Fort Lauderdale

2024 [player_tooltip player_id="1139735" first="Ramez" last="Zayed"] finished with eight points and played good defense in my view. At 6-foot-1, Zayed has a good frame to hold his position while rebounding and blocking shots. He averages over six rebounds and just under 16 points per game.

[player_tooltip player_id="1161400" first="Matthew" last="Cadogan"] - St. Thomas Aquinas

2022 Mathew Cadogan finished with a game-high 14 points. The 6-foot-5 guard had the upper hand with his size to attack the rim. I like when he plays aggressive and uses his frame to get into the lane. I think he can score at will at times when he plays with that mentality. Cadogan could be a big scoring x-factor when you add 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="955771" first="Andrew" last="Akuchie"] from the wing/paint. The 6-foot-8 forward did a great job (per usual) at defending the rim. Akuchie is going to routinely score around the rim with his length and hit from outside.
