Here are seven players who have quickly risen up the city ranks to show they belong. We thought they were going to be really good but until you prove yourself in the nightly battles your not going to get the recognition in New York. These guys have proven they not only belong but they are climbing up the ranks.

Has good instincts and anticipates on both ends of the court. Excellent shooter. Has a nice fluid rotation on his shot. Has not been intimidated by the big stage night after night.

[player_tooltip player_id="1361728" first="Markel" last="Alston"] 6”1 2025 Christ the King

He moves his feet and stays in front well for a young player. A shooter and playmaker. Initiates contact and can finish his drive. Has shown a nice teardrop off the glass. Displays good vision. Very confident player.

Can score from all three levels. Excellent shooter from three. Fundamentally sound. No wasted motion. Uses his body to score initiates contact. Finds the open spots. His pull up off the shot fake is exceptional.

Moves well without the ball. Outstanding mid range game. Does a good job rebounding at of the guard position. Really good in the open floor. Recent game I attended he displayed a nice ball fake drive as well as a spin move in transition. Crafty scorer with excellent body control.

Devin Grant 6”4 2022 Holy Cross

Devin is a player hurt last year by not playing a season due to Covid. He is making up for it now. Excellent frame. Athletic big. Moves well. He gains position on the block by setting up low and wide. Capable of exploding to the rim. Finds the open area in the post. Capable of hitting the open three off a catch. Rebounds on both ends of the floor. Underated big man in a league full of really good post players.

Jalen Lynn. 6”2 2023. Mount St Michael

This title is especially named after this young man. Averaging 16.5 a game. He was thrust into the starting role and a starring role for Mount. He has responded. Quickly becoming a top notch guard in the CHSAA. Can score from all three levels. Smooth with the ball. Athletic scorer. Good rebounder from the guard spot.
