<p>Below is a preview of five southeastern Pennsylvania games we are looking forward to watching the week of January 2nd, 2022.</p>
<p><strong>Sun., Jan. 2nd…Roman Catholic at Archbishop Wood: </strong>The rematch of last season’s PCL championship game (won by Wood) will feature too many college prospects to count. Elite shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id="901951" first="Daniel" last="Skillings"] (Cincinnati) and wing scorer [player_tooltip player_id="991212" first="Khalil" last="Farmer"] (Hofstra) lead Roman. RC combo guard Toby Ojukwu (2024) and freshman stretch-4 prospect [player_tooltip player_id="1188620" first="Shareef" last="Jackson"] are two of the top underclassmen in the area. Wood’s roster is headlined by floor general [player_tooltip player_id="991202" first="Justin" last="Moore"] (Drexel) and slasher style forward [player_tooltip player_id="1013075" first="Carson" last="Howard"]. Do not overlook Wood senior Mike Knouse as well as 6’3” junior [player_tooltip player_id="1189096" first="Jalil" last="Bethea"]. Both will play at the next level.</p>
<p><strong>Mon., Jan. 3rd…Berks Catholic at Reading: </strong>In last week’s loss to Devon Prep, the defending 6A state champions roster was Covid depleted. Reading’s all-state point guard [player_tooltip player_id="1279633" first="Ruben" last="Rodriguez"] and two-way superstar [player_tooltip player_id="1116036" first="Daniel" last="Alcantara"] will look to get back on the winning track against a good Berks Catholic team. If BC is going to pull off the upset, they will need primetime performances from ultra-quick, dribble drive threat Josiah Jordan (13.9 ppg in 2020-21) and senior point-forward Aidan Sands. Sands is a unique prospect we will be tracking all season.</p>
<p><strong>Tue., Jan. 4th…Constitution at Imhotep Charter: </strong>Defeating an Imhotep squad loaded with DI prospects ([player_tooltip player_id="991341" first="Justin" last="Edwards"], [player_tooltip player_id="991339" first="Rahmir" last="Barno"], [player_tooltip player_id="1281786" first="Ahmad" last="Nowell"], etc.) on their home court will be a tall order for Constitution. But they have a punchers chance because of the extremely gifted [player_tooltip player_id="991231" first="Jacob" last="Beccles"] (2nd Team All-State). Beccles is one of the top combo-guards in the region. However, if the Generals are going to shock the world, Beccles will need help from high IQ floor general Lamar Glover and 6’5” wing scorer Jamal Carr.</p>
<p><strong>Thurs., Jan. 6th…Archbishop Wood at Archbishop Carroll:</strong> Early on this season Wood’s schedule has been no joke. That trend continues as they follow up their Sunday contest with Roman Catholic by traveling to Archbishop Carroll for this much anticipated matchup. Carroll’s only loss of the season (7-1) came last week when [player_tooltip player_id="991425" first="Moses" last="Hipps"], one the most talented 2024s in the state, was out of their lineup. Still, Hipps is not a one man show. Carroll’s rotation also boasts several other college prospects including [player_tooltip player_id="991335" first="Dean" last="Coleman-Newsome"], [player_tooltip player_id="1136565" first="Jake" last="West"], [player_tooltip player_id="1281928" first="Shawnn" last="Smith"] and Blake Deegan.</p>
<p><strong>Sat., Jan 8th…Phelps School at Kiski School: </strong>A Phelps team that owns one of SEPA’s most complete rosters travels out of the region to face a Kiski squad that is one of the best the Pittsburgh areas has to offer. For Kiski [player_tooltip player_id="991239" first="Anthony" last="“Reese” Purnell"] is the key. Purnell is an extremely athletic point guard who because of his extra burst of speed and his change of direction abilities is extremely difficult to defend in the open floor. He can also finish above the rim. The usual high-level prospects will run the floor for Phelps – three points assassin [player_tooltip player_id="991172" first="Neel" last="Beniwal"]; filthy scoring point guard [player_tooltip player_id="1192711" first="Chas" last="Kelley"] (Boston College) and 6’10” big man [player_tooltip player_id="787337" first="Mitchell" last="Holmes"] (multiple DI offers). Keep an eye on Phelps 2024 prospect [player_tooltip player_id="1123904" first="Myles" last="Mucius"]. He has picked up numerous DI offers recently.</p>
