Weekend Roundup: Top Frontcourt Performers

2022 6-6 W [player_tooltip player_id="1199631" first="Peyton" last="Law"] – Calhoun

In his first game back from the football field, aside from his first shot airball, [player_tooltip player_id="1199631" first="Peyton" last="Law"] showed hardly any rust. He dumped in 25 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 3 blocks. Law is one of the best unsigned seniors in Georgia still flying under the radar. His size, athleticism and overall versatility give him major upside. Law finished with dunks inside, knocked down pull-ups and sank the three-point shot. D-II programs need to move quickly on the dual-sport standout.

2024 6-5 F [player_tooltip player_id="1350895" first="Colton" last="Wilbanks"] – Chestatee

North Georgia’s newest double-double machine is [player_tooltip player_id="1350895" first="Colton" last="Wilbanks"]. He’s a springy forward that crashes the glass hard, high-pointing rebounds and finishing with a soft touch inside. He doesn’t get many post touches but still manages to impact games with his nose for the ball. He can stretch the floor with his three-point shot, can take his man off the dribble when needed and elevates over defenders around the rim. He hit a pair of threes and finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds against East Hall. Wilbanks is just scratching the surface of his potential.

2022 6-5 F [player_tooltip player_id="1350906" first="Christian" last="Torres"] – East Hall

Torres is tough inside for the Vikings. He’s a solid athlete with a strong lean build. He has a soft floater in the lane and draws fouls inside when powering up around the rim. He’s a quality defender that can guard 3-5. Torres had 18 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks vs. Chestatee.

2025 6-2 F Emaree Winston – Calhoun

Football is where Emaree Winston’s future will likely take him but the 220-pound freshman is a beast on the boards. Winston has a big upper body with a little baby fat on him, highlighting just how young he really is. But Winston is a bulldozer inside that uses his frame perfectly. Emaree, a tight end/defensive end, has terrific hands, gobbling up every rebound in his vicinity. Winston attacks caroms with both hands and muscles his way through contact for putbacks. He scored on four second chance opportunities and even knocked down a three as he posted 15 points and 18 rebounds vs. Mill Creek. Seeing major time with [player_tooltip player_id="1131526" first="Dylan" last="Faulkner"] injured, Emaree will play a huge role moving forward for the Yellow Jackets.

2022 6-10 F [player_tooltip player_id="598785" first="Chauncey" last="Wiggins"] – Grayson

There’s no denying the offensive talent of Clemson-signee [player_tooltip player_id="598785" first="Chauncey" last="Wiggins"]. He had it all working against McEachern, scoring 23 points. Wiggins loves the step-back jumper. He rises up and shoots over defenders with ease, ala Jabari Smith II. Chauncey can eurostep in traffic and has an overall soft touch. He has to make sure he doesn’t fall too much in love with playing far away from the rim, especially when he has a size advantage. Wiggins was equally as effective when he went to the block, scoring on hooks and step throughs. Getting on the glass was the one area Wiggins didn’t dominate on Saturday, pulling down just 3 rebounds. Wiggins is the type of unicorn player at the high school level that can lead a team to a state title when he’s clicking on all cylinders.
