Chase Walker Chase Walker 6'8" | C St. Charles | 2023 State OH , 6’8 C St Charles 2023: Walker just recently earned his first Division I offer from Stony Brook University and continued his impressive Junior season against Springfield. Walker is a force in the paint as most high school teams have nobody to guard him with his size and weight. Walker is also a very skilled passer, which makes it difficult to double-team him in the post. I’ll be interested to see how Walker defends at the next level, because currently it seems like zone would be the best option to run with Walker on the court.
Nick Patton, 6’1 SG Westerville Central 2024: The Warhawks graduated a strong senior class that led them to the state title game last season, and this has allowed a core of Sophomores to gain some varsity experience. Most impressive of the group on Sunday was Patton, as the Sophomore off guard knocked down some shots and showed off his feel for the game. I’ll be excited to continue to monitor the development of Patton and the rest of the young Warhawks.
Arness Lawson, 6’1 PG Pickerington North 2025: Lawson is one of the best freshmen in the state and proved it once again by handing Hilliard Davidson their first loss of the season. Lawson is one of the best defensive freshmen guards I’ve seen from Ohio, with disciplined feet and quick hands. Lawson had at least five steals in the contest and was able to score in transition after those steals. Lawson will be a player to monitor for the next few seasons and I’m sure Division I coaches will know who he is very soon.
Jeff Amapps Jeff Amapps 6'3" | SF Pickerington North | 2023 State OH , 6’3 SF Pickerington North 2023: Amapss brought much needed energy off the bench and was a huge factor for the Panthers in their victory on Sunday. Amapps has a great frame and used his strength to grab offensive rebounds and finish around the basket at will. Not the most skilled forward, Amapps makes up for it with his energy and hustle.
Cade Norris Cade Norris 6'3" | PG Hilliard Bradley | 2024 State OH , 6’2 PG Hilliard Davidson 2024: Norris has been one of the most productive players in his grade since he began high school and continued to show why early in this season. Norris is expanding his game, becoming a lead guard for the Jags after spending most of his freshman season on the block. It will be interesting to see how Norris changes his body throughout the next two seasons and whether he grows any more from his current 6’2 height.
