I usually don’t venture into team rankings, but hey, it’s almost a new year. Let’s tread some new ground and I’ll give you my top 25 teams as of the morning of 12/27. Keep in mind that rankings are fluid and by the time you read this, something may have changed. And trust me on this, no ranking is an insult as every team on this list (plus some more) could make a run this year. Have fun with it, read on, and give us your opinions.

THE TOP 10

#1: Orchard Lake St. Mary’s

A backcourt with talent like [player_tooltip player_id="1181896" first="Kareem" last="Rozier"], [player_tooltip player_id="787651" first="JaVaughn" last="Hannah"], Trey McKenney, and [player_tooltip player_id="1111918" first="Daniel" last="Smythe"] is elite, and elite beyond just the state of Michigan.

#2: De La Salle

De La Salle has talent all over the floor with a guard like [player_tooltip player_id="1349420" first="Caleb" last="Reese"], a wing like [player_tooltip player_id="986245" first="Triston" last="Nichols"], and a post like [player_tooltip player_id="986902" first="Michael" last="Sulaka"].

#3: Brother Rice

Brother Rice is loaded with athletic talent lead by elite prospects such as [player_tooltip player_id="985661" first="Curtis" last="Williams"] and [player_tooltip player_id="987273" first="John" last="Blackwell"].

[player_tooltip player_id="787680" first="Jack" last="Karasinski"], [player_tooltip player_id="1112374" first="Durral" last="Brooks"] and company just keep getting the job done. It’s tough to remember seeing them lose a game.

#5: Williamston

Williamston has the talent to finish the job this year. [player_tooltip player_id="1349419" first="Mason" last="Docks"], [player_tooltip player_id="863935" first="Max" last="Burton"], and [player_tooltip player_id="863940" first="Jacob" last="Wallace"] is a truly elite ’Big 3".

#6: Ferndale

Ferndale has a very impressive win on the board and 2 of the better guards in Michigan with [player_tooltip player_id="863920" first="Jason" last="Drake"] and [player_tooltip player_id="863927" first="Treyvon" last="Lewis"].

#7: UD Jesuit

I really like the way UD Jesuit looks with their athletic talent a fiery young star in [player_tooltip player_id="985657" first="Sonny" last="Wilson"].

#8: Detroit MLK

Any team that has a grinder like [player_tooltip player_id="863923" first="Chansey" last="Willis"] leading the way, has a chance. MLK certainly does this year.

#9: Hamtramck

Hamtramck is one of the best defensive teams in the state led by [player_tooltip player_id="986247" first="Amari" last="Allen"].

#10: Northview

Northview has state title talent. Players like [player_tooltip player_id="787685" first="Kyler" last="Vanderjagt"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1111924" first="EJ" last="Ryans"] are jersey in the rafters type high school players.
