Recent Standouts: South Florida

<p>The South Florida basketball season is in full gear. Who’s been playing well? With just a couple weeks left in the year, let’s finish out 2021 strong.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1164250" first="Derrick" last="Edouard"] - North Miami</p> <p>2023 [player_tooltip player_id="1164250" first="Derrick" last="Edouard"] scored 21 points and knocked down four 3-pointers against <strong>American</strong> (Hialeah). The 6-foot-3 shooting guard has unlimited range on his shot. I was impressed with Edouard’s ability to put the ball on the floor and aggressively attack the rim. On defense, he has long arms to disrupt passing lanes and block shots. Through nine games, he is averaging 14.1 points while shooting 63 percent (27-of-43) from deep.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="955795" first="Gabriel" last="Gaspard"] - North Miami</p> <p>2022 [player_tooltip player_id="955795" first="Gabriel" last="Gaspard"] scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds against American. The 6-foot-2 shooting guard did a nice job scoring around the basket. Gaspard has some size to be effective, evident by his 5.8 rebounds per game. He is averaging 14.2 points while shooting 64 percent from the field.</p> <p>Jaden Piner - American</p> <p>2022 Jaden Piner was the best player on the court for American. The 5-foot-9 guard scored a team-best 13 points on the night. Piner is quick and shifty in the open floor. He has a pretty good handle and can score at the basket.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="956797" first="Deshayne" last="Montgomery"] - Somerset Prep North Lauderdale</p> <p>2022 [player_tooltip player_id="956797" first="Deshayne" last="Montgomery"] had 22 points, five assists, three rebounds and four steals while shooting 71 percent (10-14) from the field against <strong>Franklin</strong> <strong>Academy</strong>. The 6-foot-4 forward is averaging a team-best 19.1 points and 4.9 assists per game while shooting 59 percent from the floor. 2022 <strong>Jaiden</strong> <strong>Miller</strong> is averaging 16.9 points and 4.4 assists per game. The 5-foot-10 guard scored 25 points and went 3-of-3 from deep. The Hurricanes are 6-2 and on a four-game winning streak.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="955791" first="Charlie" last="Bell"] - Florida Christian</p> <p>2022 [player_tooltip player_id="955791" first="Charlie" last="Bell"] is averaging 14.6 points while shooting 48 percent from the field for the Patriots. Moreover, the 6-foot-4 guard is 16-of-42 (38 percent) from deep. Against <strong>Palmetto (</strong>12/10), Bell had 18 points and knocked down four 3-pointers.
