Jesse Jones Jesse Jones 6'6" | PF Barlow | 2022 State OR (2022 Barlow)
Barlow had a gameplan to pound it inside against Roosevelt and Jones was the chief beneficiary. The 6-foot-6 senior post used his husky body to establish position down low and showed his soft touch around the hoop to get buckets. He pounded the offensive glass for putbacks and played solid position defense on the other end. Jones may very well be the top senior post in the state and his 24 points and 12 rebounds in the victory certainly go a long way towards validating that.
Jalen Atkins Jalen Atkins 6'2" | SG Barlow | 2025 State OR (2025 Barlow)
After a relatively quiet high school debut, Atkins came up big in his second-ever game. Starting in the second half, the freshman started to connect with his smooth shooting stroke, whether it was launching from three (hitting 3-5) or pulling up off of the dribble. Overall it was a super efficient performance of 23 points on 8-14 shooting and something we will surely see more from the 6-foot-1 guard as the season progresses.
Terrence Hill Jr Terrence Hill Jr 6'3" | PG Roosevelt | 2024 State #183 Nation OR (2024 Roosevelt)
Hill was the high scorer of the day with 36 points and while he was canning some incredible threes, what was most impressive to us about the performance was that he was very actively taking it to the basket and drawing contact. He ended up shooting 14 free throws – hitting 12 of them – and his dribble drive penetration also led to him dishing out five assists. Hill is only at the start of his sophomore season and he’s getting his name in the state’s all-time record books.
Noah Ogoli Noah Ogoli 6'2" | CG Tualatin | 2022 State OR (2022 Tualatin)
Ogoli had a quiet first half but really turned it on in the second. The 6-foot guard got rolling with his patented pull-up jumper and also converted some strong physical drives to the hoop. It wasn’t all about scoring either for Ogoli, he dished out five dimes and also got gritty on defense, nabbing three steals.
Winters Grady Winters Grady 6'7" | SF Prolific Prep | 2025 #118 Nation CA-N (2025 Lake Oswego)
Grady showed off his sweet shooting touch early by knocking down some threes and then got some baskets in other ways as the game went along. It’s clear that the 6-foot-6 freshman is not a post and won’t be one as he’s extremely skilled with the basketball. One of his go-to moves on the night was a drive along the baseline where he would lean in to the defender but shoot the floater from behind his body, making it extremely difficult to block.
Cade Collins (2023 Jesuit)
Collins has been another find for us so far this season as a varsity newcomer at Jesuit. He’s an all-around player at 6-foot-3 and offensively takes what the defense gives him, whether it’s taking the jumper or creating off the dribble. He may lack the physical stature to go up against bigger opponents right now but he has the frame to support additional bulk/muscle. He tallied a game-high 8 points against vaunted Link Academy.
Brady Rice Brady Rice 6'2" | SG Beaverton | 2023 State OR (2023 Beaverton)
We’ve coined the moniker Big Game Brady for Rice and it once again rang true for the junior guard on Tuesday night. He got things going early with 21 points in the first half against Cleveland and then made some big plays down the stretch to finish with 31 on 10-16 shooting, 4-8 from three-point range. Rice really has the ability to draw fouls and get to the line, sometimes getting the call when it looks like it’s a 50/50 proposition.
Lawson Vella Lawson Vella 6'0" | PG Cleveland | 2022 State OR (2022 Cleveland)
It’s been all about balance at Cleveland this season and that was certainly the case again last night, but Vella had his moments. The senior guard hit two big threes late in the game that gave Cleveland a push and a lead and he was sharp from distance the entire contest (4-9 from three). Vella is a sharp ball-handler and passer and he dished out four assists as well.
