We recently updated our Senior class rankings and it’s time to highlight certain players by position group. Here’s a look at the top Combo Guards in the updated 2022 rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id="923006" first="Jevonte" last="Turner"], Knox Central - Jevonte is a 2021 reclass who will be going for a fourth straight regional title with the Panthers this season. A skilled player and good athlete, Turner has the ability to take over games when needed and can score the ball from any spot on the court. At 6'3, Jevonte is the type of recruit that goes to a good juco and ends up with a dozen D1 offers in a year or two.

[player_tooltip player_id="692954" first="Kennedy" last="Hayden"], Ballard - One of my favorite players in the class, "Keno" has all the tools to be an impact player at the next level. Hayden knows when to take over games and when to lay back and doesn't require a ton of shots to put up solid numbers. He's also able to switch multiple positions on defense. He should be a scholarship level player in college.

[player_tooltip player_id="801625" first="Tanner" last="Walton"], George Rogers Clark - Tanner is a super solid guard with a high IQ. He's a very efficient scorer with a knack for making game winners. Walton rarely gets sped up and can bring the ball up and run offense or play off the ball where he's a good shooter and deadly as a secondary driver when he finds a gap to attack the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id="1009764" first="Brant" last="Smithers"], Walton-Verona - One of the best shooters in the state, Brant never misses by much. He is able to catch and shoot at a high level and can hurt opposing defenders with floaters in the midrange. Smithers is better off the ball because of his shooting but he is capable of initiating offense and creating shots for others.

[player_tooltip player_id="1133844" first="Kam" last="Jones"], Central - Jones had a huge summer of AAU and will hope to lead Central back to the thick of the 7th region conversation and get them back in the mix for a regional title. Kam has shown he is a high level shooter but uses his quick first step to get past defenders and into the paint where he can finish through contact or get to the free throw line.
