This past Saturday the 2021 Competitive Edge High School Varsity Fall League came to a close, as Radnor HS capped a 6-2 regular season by running through the playoff bracket and defeating Archbishop Carroll (6-2) in the championship game.

Below is a look at thirteen prospects who played exceptionally well during the 2021 Competitive Edge High School Varsity Fall League and thus earned “All-League’ status.

1st Team All-League:

[player_tooltip player_id="1116044" first="JP" last="Baron"] – 6’2” / Senior / Pope John Paul II / NJ Shoreshots / Combo Guard: Baron is a combo-guard who can score at all three levels, and he proved that throughout fall league play. On the opening Saturday Baron knocked down five threes on his way to 28 points. On the final Saturday he posted 26 points vs. WC Henderson and 20 in the semis against eventual league champion Radnor. On those Saturdays and every Saturday in between, Baron’s three-point shooting was especially impressive. His stroke from deep is easy and effortless. However, Baron is more than just a scoring guard. His high basketball IQ and excellent court vision allow him to facilitate for others in transition or in half-court sets.

Blake Deegan – 6’5” / Junior / Archbishop Carroll / 610 City Elite / Wing: For the last year or so Deegan has been playing in the shadows of Carroll stars like [player_tooltip player_id="991425" first="Moses" last="Hipps"], [player_tooltip player_id="1281928" first="Shawnn" last="Smith"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1136565" first="Jake" last="West"]. The Comp Edge Fall League was his coming out party. Deegan is a well-rounded small forward / wing who possesses particularly good instincts for the game. His excellent court vision / passing skills and team first mentality make Deegan the perfect complimentary player to the elite scoring options listed above. When Deegan is looking to score, he owns a jumper that is automatic from the mid-range out to behind the arc. He can also operate in pick-n-roll / pick-n-pop action. Deegan’s stop-and-pop game is a nice weapon for him too.

[player_tooltip player_id="991198" first="Cole" last="Hargrove"] – 6’7” / Senior / Methacton / K-Low Elite / Power Forward: Last winter Hargrove posted a fantastic season and was a 1st team All-PAC selection. In 2021-22 he will be asked to take his game to yet another level for Methacton. During play at the Comp Edge Fall League, Hargrove did just that, as he pushed Methacton to a 7-4 overall record and an appearance in the playoff semi-finals. Hargrove does a superb job of establishing position and then using his great footwork as well as his physical nature to finish through contact. His tenacious nature on the glass was very impressive as well. Hargrove flashed the ability to hit mid-range and baseline Js. If he can extend his range to behind the arc, Hargrove will be a real problem at the collegiate level as a stretch-4. He holds offers from St. Peter’s and Drexel.

[player_tooltip player_id="1119137" first="Jackson" last="Hicke"] – 6’5” / Junior / Radnor / SJ Hoops Elite-Gray / Wing: In week one Hicke scored 40 points on 8/14 shooting from deep, quickly verifying that his outstanding summer was no fluke. Throughout fall league action Hicke further established himself as on the best 2023 wing players in the area. He continued to be automatic from behind the arc, draining threes of every variety and from all over the floor. Still, it was the versatility Hicke displayed this fall that really turned heads. During several games, Hicke spent long stretches running as Radnor’s point guard and did a respectable job in that role. Additionally, he showed an improved ability to use the bounce to get to his mid-range spots for buckets. At the other end of the court, he effectively guarded smaller perimeter players. Hicke has a big high school season lies ahead of him.

[player_tooltip player_id="991425" first="Moses" last="Hipps"] – 6’2: / Sophomore / Archbishop Carroll / Team Final EYBL / Combo Guard: Hipps has always been a lethal three-point shooter, possibly the best in the region. Then this summer and throughout the Comp Edge Fall League, Hipps displayed drastically improved ball handling and distribution skills. His ability to play downhill and apply constant pressure on opponents is extremely unique. To be honest, Hipps could now be the most complete 2024 guard prospect in Pennsylvania. His offensive skills are complimented by great instincts for the game and a willingness to play tenacious defense. Hipps holds offers from LaSalle, Temple, VCU and Fordham. He has unlimited potential and is a must-see prospect for the upcoming high school season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1202388" first="Ty" last="Jones"] – 5’11” / Senior / Upper Merion / East Coast Power-Rap / Point Guard: The do everything point guard (2020-21 1st Team All-PAC selection) had a last second change of heart and decided to stay at Upper Merion. So far deciding not to transfer to Rocktop Academy (PA) looks like a wise decision. This fall Jones excelled at every facet of the game and played a variety of point guard styles. If the coach needs him to be a scoring point, Jones is very capable of getting buckets. If the game plan is to attack a specific mismatch, Jones is an excellent facilitator for teammates. If you want to run a team out of the gym, Jones will push the pace all night long. Although he is undersized, Jones has an impact on the glass. He also plays a fearless, intense style of ball that spreads throughout the UM players on the floor.

2nd Team All-League:

Lanier Baird – 5’9” / Senior / Renaissance Academy / Team 150 / Combo Guard

[player_tooltip player_id="1200797" first="Brett" last="Byrne"] – 6’2” / Senior / Methacton / East Coast Power-Rap / Combo Guard

Jake Kapp – 6’3” / Junior / Boyertown / Eastern PA Elite / Wing

Adam Mathai – 6’5” / Junior / Council Rock North / Power Forward

[player_tooltip player_id="1275989" first="Zavier" last="Mayo"] – 6‘4” / Senior / Phoenixville / PSB Philly / Combo Guard

[player_tooltip player_id="1212678" first="Charlie" last="Thornton"] – 6’4” / Junior / Radnor / SJ Hoops Elite-Gray / Wing

[player_tooltip player_id="1275992" first="Jaden" last="Workman"] – 6’0” / Senior / Pope John Paul / PSB Philly / Combo Guard
