has two state runner-up trophies in his 11 seasons at Linton-Stockton High School. Now, coming off of a 23-5 season that ended in a one point loss to Southwestern (Hanover) in the regional, the Miners will look to break through and bring home a state championship. To do that, they will rely heavily on the coach’s son, also named

Hart, a 6’5″ shooting guard ranked as the #4 prospect in the Class of 2023 by Prep Hoops Indiana, is a highly sought after recruit with scholarship offers from Northwestern, Loyola Chicago, Wichita State, New Orleans, Drake, Indiana State, and Ball State. He averaged 14.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game as a sophomore while playing next to the school’s all-time leading scorer

who is now at Indiana Wesleyan. Hart is more than ready to take over the primary scoring role from Hale and should see his scoring average skyrocket into the 20’s.
This won’t just be a one-man show though. Fellow junior

is back and will be a major contributor alongside Hart. He is an excellent finisher around the rim at 6’3″-6’4″. Webb’s strength, athleticism, and offensive versatility will really take some pressure off of his star classmate. Additionally, 6’5″ forward

is poised for a big sophomore season. Ranked as the #8 prospect in the Class of 2024, Walters played up on the UAA Rise circuit with Grand Park Premier with both Hart and Webb. He is an excellent scorer around the basket and a major matchup problem for defenders. He can overpower smaller guards or beat bigger forwards off of the dribble.
At the Class 2A level, stopping a trio as talented as Hart, Webb, and Walters will be a very tall task for any opposing team. The Miners will be at or near the top of the preseason polls.
Don’t Count Out: Parke Heritage High School
Since Rockville High School and Turkey Run High School consolidated prior to the 2018-2019 season, the Wolves have experienced a good measure of success. Led by Head Coach Rich Schelsky, Parke Heritage High School went 8-16 in year one before winning a sectional in year two with a 23-3 record and followed it up with an appearance in the state finals a season ago. The Wolves lost 55-40 to Blackhawk Christian to end a 27-4 campaign.
Seven seniors graduated from that state runner-up team, including 14.7 and 12.3 point per game scorers. However, the Wolves return their best player in 6’0″ junior guard Christian Johnson Christian Johnson 6'1" | SG Parke Heritage | 2023 IN . As a sophomore, Johnson led Parke Heritage with 15.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. He will be a Junior All-Star candidate this season and will once again make his team a contender in Class 2A.
The Wolves were hit hard by graduation, but returning a producer like Johnson is a great start to rebuilding a winning team. Do not count out Coach Schelsky and Parke Heritage as the reigning Class 2A runner-up this season.
Sleeper: Heritage Christian School
It is hard to consider a Class 2A team with a 4-star national prospect committed to Purdue a sleeper. However, coming off of an 11-9 season a lot of people around the state probably don’t realize just how good Heritage Christian will be this year. The Eagles return junior sensation

who turned down an offer from Overtime Elite to remain at Heritage Christian. The 6’5″ shooting guard is one of the best prospects in the state and will have a huge junior season. However, there is more to this team than just Colvin.

both joined Colvin to create a dynamic Class of 2023 trio. This will be an explosive group offensively with the athleticism to really make it hard on opposing teams at their level to match them. Colvin is going to attract the majority of the attention from opposing defenses, but both Doss and Duncan are capable of going off on a given night. Heritage Christian will be very tough to beat come tournament time.
Honorable Mention: Eastern Hancock High School
The Royals are ready to make some noise. Coming off of a 19-6 season, Eastern Hancock graduated just one senior that averaged 4.4 points per game. This will be a very, very good offensive team and should be the favorite to come out of Sectional 41.
Returning three double-figure scorers is a great place to start. Senior guard Landon O’Neal Landon O’Neal 6'1" | SG Eastern Hancock | 2022 State IN brings back a team-leading 15.8 points per game. In the junior class, twins Jacob and Silas Spaulding scored 12.0 and 11.6 points per game respectively a year ago. The sharp-shooting trio combined for 142 three-pointers last season at an impressive 37.3% clip. This will be one of the best shooting teams in east central Indiana with the ability to really put up points in a hurry.
Don’t be surprised to see Eastern Hancock in the Class 2A Top 10 for most of the season.
