On Sunday October 10th I attended the Prep Hoops Top-250 EXPO at Inspire Courts in Gilbert, AZ.

There were about 80 players from five states (NM/CA/CO/NV/AZ) who played three games each with 10 teams of 7-9 players on each team.

I thought there was good depth at every age group and adequate competition on every court.

Let's take a look at every age group's 1st team.

Here is the 2024 1st team:

[player_tooltip player_id="1152187" first="Luke" last="Shaw"] Valley Christian (MVP)

A scoring lead guard has a high feel for game. He has a true clip he uses from mid to the 3pt line. He has a sneaky burst to get into the lane and he can drive and kick it to a teammate. He is a good advanced passer and he can create separation and step back and hit a 3.

[player_tooltip player_id="1502835" first="Samuel" last="Galindo"] Home school/CA (Pictured)

A long and lean face-up four-man can sling it with ease from beyond the 3pt line. He can shoot the 3 effortlessly and hit from mid-range. He rebounds out of his area, runs the floor and will throw it down on the break.

[player_tooltip player_id="1077598" first="Isaiah" last="Bronson"] Gilbert

The top pull-up from mid to the 3pt line at the camp. He gets a clean look on every attempt and he is crafty around the basket with different layups and floaters. He is quick on the ball defensively and he will be an offensive weapon for the Tigers.

[player_tooltip player_id="1306028" first="Brandon" last="Kehres"] Organ Mountain/NM

An under the rim highly effective scorer. He can step out and hit the 3 plus from mid. He rebounds with a big motor and he will block a shot or two. In the paint he feels the defense and counter acts their movements and goes up to score. His IQ is high and he plays the right way.

[player_tooltip player_id="1128461" first="Jaevyn" last="Yancey"] Higley

A long forward makes mini strides every few months it seems. He scores best around the rim but can step out and hit perimeter jumpers. He rebounds at a good rate and he has become a good passer kicking it out to shooters after he gets double teamed.

[player_tooltip player_id="1306051" first="Logan" last="Martinez"] Salpointe Catholic

A pure PG with a high IQ, He earned the best teammate award and he consistently looked to make plays for others. He is undersized but he is skilled and sees plays developing quickly. He uses ball fakes to get passed his defenders and will score it at the rim. He will take over for Riesgo next season and lead the Lancers.

[player_tooltip player_id="1216992" first="Dante" last="Brooks"] Catalina Foothills

A versatile inside out threat is steadily improving. The lefty can shoot the 3 plus score it inside and bang with anyone. He plays the game with a big motor to rebound in traffic and is strong around the basket. He has already made strides since last season.
