Flipping the calendar to October means the high school basketball season is rapidly approaching. After an unprecedented start to the 2020-2021 season, programs look to get back into their routine for the launch of the 2021-2022 campaign. Prep Hoops will be following along with the 11th and 12th Region top 4 finalists from last season.

2020-2021 Record

17-3 Regular Season

Prep Hoops spoke with Coach Webb about his team. Coach Webb has a great returning nucleus that took the Rebels deep into the postseason last year. The Rebels have a few key players participating in other fall sports, including starting quarterback, Jagger Gills and starting wide receiver, [player_tooltip player_id="926889" first="Luke" last="Imfeld"]. We preview three returning players that are all ranked in our Prep Hoops Player Database. Look for these players to be major impact performers in the 12th Region this season.

Top Returning Scorer: [player_tooltip player_id="926889" first="Luke" last="Imfeld"] is poised for another big jump going into his senior season. Imfeld finished his junior campaign averaging more than 18 points per game. His competitive acumen turned Boyle into a serious contender last season. He totaled several explosive scoring games including 37 against Somerset, 28 against St. X, and 20 in the 12th Region Championship against Lincoln County. Imfeld suited up for Starz United during the spring and summer travel season. He had a massive July session that caught the attention of the PH Staff. Imfeld is currently in our Top 10 players in the 2022 class coming in at #6. He is also picked to win top player of the 12th Region. Imfeld holds one offer from Campbellsville but we expect more attention to come his way. As his football season continues, we expect Imfeld to flow into the basketball season shortly thereafter.

Top Versatile Player: [player_tooltip player_id="926922" first="Hagan" last="Webb"] will be another vital returner for the Rebels. Webb was part of the Louisville Prospects program for the spring and summer travel season. Webb brings versatility on the court that very few athletes can match. Webb truly does everything for the team, which is something he should know considering he is the son of the head coach. Webb will be asked to guard every position on the court and provide a consistent scoring threat to keep the defense honest. Look for Webb to be a key playmaker and defender for the Rebels as they eye a return to Rupp.

Underrated Player: [player_tooltip player_id="1157016" first="Owen" last="Barnes"] will be called upon to have a larger role for the Rebels. Ranked just outside the top 50 players in the 2024 class, Barnes has a chance to make a big leap this season. Look for Barnes to be an improved shooter from beyond the arc and develop a better feel around the paint. Barnes will be part of the pesky three-guard lineup that will cause matchup problems for opposing teams.
