Continue ReadingTransfers are a key part of high school basketball as they are a big part of championship teams. While some transfers received a lot of fan fare, others flew under the radar, but they should still be a big part of their team’s success. Here are some of the under the radar transfers that are set for big seasons.
Ryan Zan, 6’7 PF Rutgers Prep 2022
The Argonauts brought in Roselle Catholic guard Jadin Collins Jadin Collins 6'1" | PG Rutgers Prep | 2023 State NJ in the summer, but they should also expect a big contribution from Zan. The Ranney transfer has a nice release as his range extends out to the three-point line. Zan has a strong frame which he uses to draw contact around the basket. He is a strong rebounder and has an underrated handle. Zan’s ability to stretch the floor will fit in nicely with Rutgers Prep’s offense this season.
Chris Santner Chris Santner 6'10" | PF St. Thomas Aquinas | 2023 State NJ , 6’8 PF St. Thomas Aquinas 2023
Santner’s move to the GMC school went completely under the radar and is set for a big season. The Roselle Catholic transfer has a nice touch around the basket and knows how to get position down low. Santner is a solid passer out of the post and sets good screens in the half court. He fights for rebounds at both ends of the floor and knows how to defend in the post. Santner provides St. Thomas Aquinas with a skilled big man, who should have a good debut season in the GMC.
Korbyn Samuels, 6’3 SG Patrick School 2022
The Celtics are always looking to upgrade their roster and they found one in Samuels. The Springfield Commonwealth Academy transfer attacks the basket hard and knows how to finish above the rim. Samuels is a good passer as he averaged over five assists a game as a sophomore. He is a strong rebounder for a guard and the ability to play off the ball. Samuels may not start, but he will most certainly create an impact off the bench.
Noah Taylor Noah Taylor 6'5" | PF Colonia | 2023 State NJ , 6’4 SF/PF Linden 2023
Taylor had a productive two seasons at Colonia, but should have a bigger role this season with Linden. The 6’4 forward has a strong frame, which he uses to draw contact around the basket. Taylor is athletic enough to finish with authority above the rim, but also has a nice touch close to the basket. He is tough to box out on both ends of the floor and is an underrated defender. Taylor’s athleticism and toughness is something that Linden will need this season in the UCC.
Jaheim Best, 5’11 PG Paterson Eastside 2023
The Ghosts are an under the radar team to watch in Group 4, especially with the addition of Best in the backcourt. The DePaul Catholic transfer is lightning quick with the ball in his hands, which he uses to blow by his defender. Best plays with his head up and knows how to find his open teammates. He is a strong rebounder for a guard his size and moves his feet on the defensive end. Best’s ability to run the offense efficiently is something that will be key for Paterson Eastside this season.
