As we did for the 2022 class, we put together an all-star team using the rankings for the 2023 class. It is the collection of all the players ranked by the six positions Prep Hoops utilizes in its rankings.

We realize that many of our ranked players could play several different positions. And we realize that some players, guys like [player_tooltip player_id="1080163" first="Eli" last="Sawyers"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1080185" first="BJ" last="Redic"], defy positions.

Thus the 2023 Rankings First Team was not a list of the top six players. It’s the highest rated player at each position. That team consisted of: PG [player_tooltip player_id="1080161" first="Marcus" last="Zeigler"], CG [player_tooltip player_id="1080176" first="Avery" last="Johnson"], SG [player_tooltip player_id="1080165" first="Will" last="Rost"], SF [player_tooltip player_id="1080162" first="Caleb" last="Wiese"], PF [player_tooltip player_id="1080159" first="Will" last="Anciaux"], and C [player_tooltip player_id="1080174" first="Jack" last="Wilson"].

The 2023 Rankings Second Team was the following: PG [player_tooltip player_id="1080166" first="Jordan" last="McGowan"], CG [player_tooltip player_id="1080170" first="Kobe" last="Smith"], SG [player_tooltip player_id="1080189" first="Eli" last="Shetlar"], SF [player_tooltip player_id="1080163" first="Eli" last="Sawyers"], PF [player_tooltip player_id="1080164" first="Tyler" last="Little"], and C [player_tooltip player_id="1080186" first="Will" last="Mlynek"].

Now here’s the 2023 Rankings Third Team, the #3 player at each of our six positional classifications (listed by position, name, state ranking, size and high school):

Point Guard: [player_tooltip player_id="1080175" first="Garrett" last="Robertson"], #12, 5-foot-10, Hutchinson HS:

One of the top pure point men in the state, Robertson can fill it up from deep. But he’s also a talented distributor who has played with a lot of top talent as part of the Oz Elite program. He has good vision, athleticism to get where he needs to, and the IQ to know where the ball needs to be.

Combo Guard: [player_tooltip player_id="1080168" first="Jack" last="Bachelor"], #11, 6-foot, Washburn Rural HS:

Another high IQ player, Bachelor has been a nice supporting piece to some talented upper classmen at Washburn Rural. To this point, he’s been a do-what-is-needed type of player, occasionally scoring in double figures, like the 14 he produced in a big game against Manhattan. He is a fine shooter, distributor and ball handler whose length and athleticism continue to develop.

Shooting Guard: [player_tooltip player_id="1080178" first="Britton" last="Dutton"], #18, 6-foot-1, Ellinwood HS (pictured):

Dutton is always in attack mode. He’s on the move full court, trying to find an opening on the drive. He gets the ball to teammates to the tune of 4.0 assists per game. But he’s best known for his scoring ability – 17.9 points as a freshman, 23.7 as a sophomore.

Small Forward: [player_tooltip player_id="1080185" first="BJ" last="Redic"], #10, 6-foot-2, Andover HS:

Like his teammate high school teammate Shetlar, Redic made a lot of fans this summer with Oz Elite, earning a 12-slot jump in the rankings this month. The rugged and dynamic athlete is a handful on the offensive end…and even better on the defensive end. He averaged 8.4 points and 4.6 rebounds on a loaded Andover team that didn’t need him to score. Watch for Redic to explode on the high school scene this year.

Power Forward: [player_tooltip player_id="1080180" first="Jack" last="Voth"], #20, 6-foot-5, Buhler HS:

Voth is another player who can play a variety of spots and provide some of everything. Voth is a long, physical guy who can really shoot. He hits the boards hard and defends inside and out, making him a guy coaches can use in many different roles.

Center: [player_tooltip player_id="1080188" first="Joe" last="Otting"], #27, 6-foot-3, Hayden HS:

Otting is a powerful guy with a big upper body. He’s built to play through contact in the lane, or on the line when he’s on the gridiron. Otting is attracting Division 1 attention in football, but his work in the post and midrange shouldn’t be overlooked. He’s a graceful and coordinated big man who lit up Wamego with 23 points late in last season, a glimpse of what may lay ahead.
